Edward Woodward killing it as the Ghost of Christmas Present.

Patrick Steward certainly made the best Scrooge but I like to watch the George C. Scott version just to see Edward Woodward's Ghost of Christmas Present. He completely steals the show. The Ghost of Christmas Present is the most important Ghost because he really gets to Scrooge. Yes, Past makes him nostalgic and Future scares the ever-loving crap out of him but Present shows Scrooge his true self and we see the cracks start forming in his rigid facade.

I used to use a few lines of this as my signature line every Christmas, because it sums up the purpose of the story entirely. The point of A Christmas Carol isn't just "don't be a dick at Christmas" but be a better human being and think about others, even those who are very different from you. Not only will you be a better person, but by removing the greed, hate and scorn from your soul, you'll be a happier person. It will be a life well-lived, as opposed to a futile life best forgotten.
“Spirit, are they yours?” Scrooge could say no more.

“They are Man’s,” said the Spirit, looking down upon them. “And they cling to me, appealing from their fathers. This boy is Ignorance. This girl is Want. Beware them both, and all of their degree, but most of all beware this boy, for on his brow I see that written which is Doom, unless the writing be erased. Deny it!” cried the Spirit, stretching out its hand towards the city. “Slander those who tell it ye. Admit it for your factious purposes, and make it worse. And abide the end.”

“Have they no refuge or resource?” cried Scrooge.

“Are there no prisons?” said the Spirit, turning on him for the last time with his own words. “Are there no workhouses?”

The bell struck twelve.

Utterly agree, re: Edward Woodward!
Plus, loved him in The Equalizer.

It isn't Christmas until we get pissed and watch porn.

Um…I had no idea! What a tradition!
Learn something new every day…

^ Merry Christmas!

We still have another 8 hours to go before it's Christmas.
Christmas is in progress here. The Norse countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark) do Christmas on the 24th). My grandparents were Swedish/Norwegian, so that's how we've always done Christmas.

I'm currently trying out a new flavor of Pringles chips. Spicy Honey... it's quite good. The honey flavor isn't drowned out by the spice. Shame that it's a limited time flavor. I'd add it to the regular grocery list if they'd add it to the line.

I didn't bother with a tree this year, though I did make an ornament that I would have put on it if I had bothered with the tree. I made a snowflake out of a Werther's Original candy wrapper. It's shiny-gold and crinkly, with brown trim since I used a wrapper from the coffee flavored variety.
