The casting of Peter Weller (and Leonard Nimoy) in Abrams Trek

Peter Weller is now the second actor, following Leonard Nimoy, who appears in both the old Roddenberry/Berman Trek and the new Abrams Trek (although, strictly speaking, Majel Barrett had voiced the Enterprise computer in ST09).

Both Nimoy and Weller had also previously guest-starred on Fringe. But only after they had first appeared on a Star Trek show.

Nimoy: TOS -> Fringe -> Abramstrek
Weller: ENT -> Fringe -> Abramstrek

Interesting concidence (?) I might say.

Which former Trek actor who has also appeared in Fringe will be featured in the next movie after STID, I wonder? ;)

Leonard Nimoy had a secretary named Weller.
Peter Weller had a secretary named Nimoy.

They both showered on a Friday.

Coincidence?

I thought Nimoy was on Fringe after Trek XI?

I checked it. You're right of course... by exactly four days. ST09 premiered on May 8, 2009 and Nimoy's first appearance on Fringe was on May 12, 2009. (Probably not a coincidence).

Yes, but Nimoy filmed his Trek XI material in 2007, possibly early 2008, while his first Fringe episode would have likely been filmed winter 2009.

Of relevance to this thread, I think Nimoy was Peter Weller's acting mentor or something back when Weller was in acting school. I remember Weller mentioning it in an interview done around the time he guest starred on Enterprise.

Orci & Kurtzman also got Weller in Hawaii 5-0
I think they got him to do it after STID.

Anyway, how about an Anna Torv underwear Trek scene?

I'd settle for more Buckaroo Banzai actors in Trek. We've got Weller, Vincent Schiavelli, and Christopher Lloyd. Who's next? ;)

^ Which former Trek/Fringe actors are left, other than Michelle Krusiec?

Well, Clint Howard appeared on Fringe. Which probably means a Clint Howard cameo in the next Trek movie is pretty much inevitable. :p

Stop it! Clint Howard's "Balok" was so creepy that I had nightmares about him for several weeks after I first saw "Corbomite Maneuver" (and I'm not talking about the puppet head).

This may be slightly off topic....

...But there was once a rumor that someone was going to do a big-screen remake of Gerry Anderson's "UFO", with Joshua Jackson (from Fringe) in the role of Colonel Paul Foster (which would have been a/the lead role)

UFO is a show that should get a quality big-screen treatment.

Try watching Ice Cream Man, it'll bring a whole new level of creepiness to Clnt Howard for you
