The captains and their crews and ships are transported to the edge of the Delta Quadrant

Okay so to see how Trek's famous captains get along and handle each other Janeway and Voyager, Sisko and the Defiant, Kirk and the Enterprise, Picard and the Enterprise and Archer and the Enterprise are transported with their full crew from each of their last seasons. Or really all main cast.

So we have our of date relics NX-01 and Enterprise Constitution Class ships, with Galaxy Class Enterprise D being slightly behind the times, with Voyager and the Defiant being the most up to date.

How do the five captains get along? What do they do with Archer and Kirk's out of date ships and crews? Who is at the top of the chain of command?

We have at least 1,700 people at the very edge of the Delta Quadrant.

Magical game by Q to see how they fare? What happens?

That would put Worf in two places at the same time which is a bit of a paradox, lol.

They'd get along fine I'd think. The two older Enterprise's may not have the capabilities of the newer ones, but with the right person commanding then they'd make up for their shortcomings--so at least the Connie-E would be alright, with Archer commanding the NX then they're pretty much doomed from day one.

Who is at the top of the chain of command?
This was answered in "Equinox", in a hostile situation involving more than one ship, command is given to the vessel (and therefore the Captain) with tactical superiority--which would probably be the E-D, which also makes sense as Picard is also the most experienced Captain of the five.

Why just the ships? Add DS9 to the mix and you dramatically increase the number of personnel as well as giving the ships a base of operations from which to spread out from--which could also be used to provide some level of upgrading to the two older ships making them more useful (since that seems to be a big concern).

I'd say leave Q out of it, seeing as how two crews don't know what he is and Sisko put him in his place with one punch to the jaw. Leave a mystery as to what happened to the crews and it'd be far more interesting as a concept--or as @admiralelm11 said, go with an all original ship/crew to make more of what they do.

For example: the Federation work with the Nyberrite Alliance to make use of some of their slipstream technology, enough to send out a small contingent of ships to the Beta/Delta Quadrant border, to allow Starfleet to explore an entirely new region of space. Led by the U.S.S. Venture, the task force have provisions to establish an outpost to use as their base of operations, and ships to carry out several exploratory missions simultaneously; however, this project comes with one downfall, those that are on it may never see their homes again.
