I've taped (yes, VHS) the first two episodes, and saw some of the second one (so I haven't voted in the poll). It was neat to see Summer Glau in a very 'intelligent' role, since the only other time I've seen her was as River in Firefly, a character who was mentally disturbed. I don't recall seeing the actor who plays Max before, but wow that guy's got a great voice.

The only reason I really tuned in was because I heard that Bear McCreary was scoring it, and I wasn't disappointed. It was great to hear some new stuff from him (I don't get cable, so I can't watch "Walking Dead" yet), in the vein of superhero scores of the past but with his own modern twists.

Otherwise, I thought what I saw was pretty dumb. I'll be surprised if it's on in the Fall. But I'll try to watch, or at least listen to, both episodes this weekend.

I enjoyed it definitely. I'll keep watching it, mainly for Summer Glau and especially Keith David - I'll give anything Goliath's in a shot. :techman: The lead is alright, if fairly bland.

Yeah, Schiff was another cringeworthy element. I couldn't help thinking how far he's fallen since West Wing.

He's probably at the point in his career where he just wants to relax and be on a crazy show and have fun. Hopefully, the next script he picks is better. I always want more Toby in my life. To bad they killed of his character in Burn Notice so abruptly. That's my favorite guilty pleasure show.

^ Any network but NBC? Does that mean you're not counting the CW as a network?

To be fair, not even the CW counts itself as a network. They're just happy to be at the party.

Keith Daivd should have been the lead, and there's still time enough to kill off the cracker.

Imagine if they're knocking over banks every week, and superheroes keep trying to foil their hilarious robberies who are then killed by the carnival of crime easily enough because they're all morons no matter their super powers.

A world with no super powers in which to have masked villains: PATHETIC!

Perhaps I should have said "costumed".

Most of Batman's villains were mentally ill or deformed more than super powered, and dick Tracy was just an outrageous world period. meanwhile the world of the Cape seems "normal".

Thinking, did Lynda Carters Wonder Woman fight any costumed villains? I've seen barely any of it but it was mostly spies, mad scientists and some times aliens.

The first episode should have been two hours long. There was no time for character development.

What I liked:
-Plausible explanations. Vince doesn't have six trillion dollars like Bruce Wayne and has no super powers. Using illusion techniques makes sense.
-Believable hero. Vince isn't used to the alto ego thing and is still learning. As such he has a tendency to make mistakes and get his ass kicked.
-Summer Glau in short skirts/dresses.

Chess seems to be an "Ozymandias"-ish character (Watchmen) - So far above most people intellectually and financially, he does crime mostly because he bored and looking for a challenge.

I hope they play up that angle more. It certainly is a more interesting angle than "Buahahaha WORLD DOMINATION" of many villains. :)

When I first heard about the show, I thought it was silly.
Then I read the pilot, and I thought, hey, this isn't bad.
And THEN, I saw it. Oy. It was bad. They edited it all to hell. And just... bad.

And, I'll say it, Summer Glau is overrated. She lack charisma. Her voice is annoying. And she's there to get genre fans on board.

I couldn't finish the next episode...

The CGI cape looks so horrible... particularly that long shot of him flapping it around. They really should've tried to use a physically real cape except when absolutely necessary :p

VHS??

I threw out about 600 tapes this year.

I was an exclusive VHS user until May. Then I moved and got high speed internet and now I have Hulu ;)
