The Burn and Time Travel Ban are incompatible

Fateor

The Burn - An event that caused Dilithium to become a scarce resource and broke apart all large centralized governing bodies.

Time Travel Ban - A generalized agreement that bans the use of time travel.

These two things are in fact completely incompatible.

Something like the Time Travel Ban requires large centralized governing bodies to enforce it. But The Burn not only destroyed those, it also created a resource scarcity based situation that would encourage separate parties to use Time Travel to solve it.

You do have a point. It’s hard to place a ban on something when you don’t have the infrastructure to enforce said ban. Unless the ban is only in effect for the current members of the Federation. They did say all time travel technology was destroyed, but what’s to stop someone just building their own Tardis or Delorean?

Up stream, after everything gets al'right al'right needs these dark ages to happen, because it's what happened that makes their golden age possible.

Of course these temporal over lords looking down "here" from the 43rd century, may not be human or Federation.

Only a massive centralized government has the resources to "invent" or re-invent "reliable" time travel.
That is shown to be incorrect, singular planets, and even singular people are perfectly able to invent Time Travel all on their own.

Nothing, which is why The Burn is incompatible with Time Travel Ban.

What ever the agreement is, everyone seems to be on board, since we're not seeing a whole lot of time travel in shows past and present to prevent wars, death, spilling that coke or making a bad investment.

You mean other then the time O'brien used Time Travel to save DS9?

Or the time Archer's Enterprise used accidental Time Travel to save Earth?

Or the other time Archer's Enterprise used Time Travel to save Earth?

Or the time Kirk used the exact type of "remove something from the past" type of Time Travel to save Earth that could be used to get Dilithium?

Or the time Picard used Time Travel to save the Enterprise and Veridian system?

Or the time Admiral Janeway used Time Travel to save Voyager?

I imagine stopping time travelers preventing the Burn is helped by the fact they have no idea what caused it and no one wants their children or spouses erased.

I mean all the other times time travel could have been uses to change things, but wasn't. Think of all the lives through out history that could be saved. WWIII, The Tarsus IV massacre, David Marcus, The Picard Winery Fire, Voyager, The Klingon War, Philippa Georgiou, Control, Ariam...

Don't forget the Orb of Time! Probably gathering dust in someone's closet. Maybe someone should see if they can locate Rasmussen's stolen time pod.

I can spot 15 different time travel methods in this picture. Can you?

The Dominion War, the Cardassian War, the Romulan supernova, the Xindi attack. The list is long of things that are selectively ignored by time traveling superheroes.

The Temporal accords were not signed by the 22nd century, 23rd century or 24th century Federation. They are not compelled to follow the temporal accords just like you are not compelled top follow the legal statutes of Holland, unless you are by chance, in Holland.

The past is however nannied from upstream to baby-proof their time travel shenanigans, by the 29th and 31st century Federation who are embarrassed by what a pack of dim shit of drop kicks their ancestors were.

If I wanted crap like that I'd watch Doctor Who.;)

I'm thinking that they go back to stop the burn.

Where they find find control ready to bloom, and kill everything.

So they lead it to the middle of nowhere.

A thousand light years from any worthwhile planet.

And burn out the galaxies Dilithium.

Giving the Galaxy at least a thousand years to cavort until Control starts killing.

Maybe its like killing Hitler; IE - many time traveling civilizations have tried it and always found the results worse than the situation caused by the burn; so they go back and make sure it occurs.:whistle:;)
