What's wrong with the standard bridge of the Enterprise?
There is no 'standard' bridge. Every ship has a unique bridge. The Enterprise-D is different from the Odyssey is different from the Yamato. The same is true for the Reliant, Brattain, Saratoga, Sisko's Saratoga and Lantree. It makes it easy to visualize what ship it is.

Go ahead and hijack the thread, I think all that was said about my USS Galaxy bridge has been said, so far....
It just seems like a kit bashed bridge. There is nothing there that makes it seem unique. Plus it's square... which is a big no-no for me.

Well, that's just it... you can't change bridges... this is a Federation starship... a "military" vessel... you get the ship you get, and it looks how it looks. You can't "tweak" the bridge of the U.S.S. Iowa, or the U.S.S. Nimitz... you simply serve on that ship. That's the way it is. You can't go to Utopia Planitia.com, and choose "build your own" for the ship, and pick from a line of bridge accessories.
I beg to differ. Starfleet may seem like a miltary organization in a lot of ways, and borrow a lot of traditions from previous military organizations, and may even be the de facto military, but strictly speaking it is not a military force, and certain isn't the military of today.
Other than preference, why would different ships of the same class have completely different bridges? Why would Voyager's bridge have a setup for two? It's the best explanation I can think of.
And if the books are any indication, there is some customization available to a ship's captain, at least a ship's first captain, as Riker got to pick several thinks about the Titan.
I'm not saying it wouldn't be NICE for a Captain to be able to do that... I'm saying it makes no sense, and it is silly...
Starfleet ships are not pleasure craft... they are not "built to order", for an individual customer's preferences. They are "military" ships... diplomatic and military tools of the Federation, built at STARFLEET shipyards, not shipyards which build yachts and cruise vessels. A Galaxy-Class has one bridge, an Ambassador-Class has another, and so on. When new technology or upgrades come along, Starfleet makes changes, or swaps modules... but they don't have Captains "pick out carpet and drape colors", so to speak... that's just absurd in the extreme.

Oh, I think I understand your perspective. A real military wouldn't be quite so loose.
I'm just saying based on what we've seen, I don't believe that it's the case. I think that Captains do have the authority to swap out some furniture or even a bridge module, because, also based on what we've seen, a Galaxy class ship doesn't have just one bridge (look at the Enterprise-D compared to the Odyssey), a Nebula class ship doesn't just have one bridge (Sutherland and Prometheus), and a Constellation class ship doesn't have just one bridge (Stargazer and Hathaway) and just about every other 'guest' Starfleet ship on TNG had a different bridge. Outside the Trekverse, this was due to production concerns, but I find it hard to ignore in-universe.
And yes, there are exceptions. On TOS, the Enterprise bridge was reused with minor changes for the Lexington and Defiant. The two Defiant-class ships we saw had the same bridge, as did the two Intrepid-class bridges we saw. And the Enterprise-D bridge was reused as the Yamato in 'Contagion' too. There are probably a few more. These are all examples of re-use of standing sets that were again available due to production reasons.
But look at how many bridges the Enterprise-A had. And that was only one ship.
I'm not saying that Picard stepped foot on the E-D and said he hated the carpet and wanted it all ripped up or the corridors replaced, or anything like that. (However, based on crew quarters we've seen from TOS onward, it's clear each person has relative free reign over decoration. Look at Spock's quarters.
) But when it comes to the control center of a ship that's going to be on an extended mission, I think it makes sense to have some Captain's discretion.
