'The Bourne Legacy' (2012) sequel greenlit by Universal

Count me in with the crowd that would have in interest in this if Damon isn't back. I quite enjoy the first three and Damon is a very big part of that.

I hope this is true. Bourne films are great.

But no Damon, no dice.

Maybe they can pull a Bond.

After the bomb that was Green Zone though, I wonder if they shouldn't be happy to get any work at all.

It's too bad. I'm watching Green Zone as I type this. It's a pretty good movie.

I think Green Zone looks nice because it's classic Greengrass and Damon is fairly Damon-ey in the film, but the on the nose politics kills it for most people.

I also wonder if Hurt Locker winning the Oscar maybe drew people away from yet another Iraq war movie.

Or it might have been better received ten years from now. Would Platoon have been as successful had it bee released a decade earlier?

Well, platoon at least had some allegory going for it in the whole "two fathers" thing. Now I've only watch Green Zone once, but I don't think the script ever approaches anything that thematically deep.

If Matt Damon returns I will add it to my collecton...otherwise I will pretend it doesn't exist.

seeing as Jason Bourne is not the character in the trilogy but an identity he uses it would be fairly simple to have another character think they are Jason Bourne, no point in creating new false identities for agents if you've got one set up.

not saying it would make a good film but it would be quite easy to have another lead.

^Well, xXx2 showed that having a new character adopt a codename won't necessarily allow audiences to accept a change of lead actor.

But more to the point, by the end of TBU, the name Jason Bourne is notorious, known to the general public as well as the various agencies hunting him. What benefit would any organisation have in getting one of their operatives to assume that identity?

That was the point of Supremacy, the book version, but it was done to draw out the original Bourne in order to get him to do a job. Not sure how they'd work that in this time around then since that plot is old and they've already made a pretty much unrelated Supremacy movie already.
