The borg voice in FC

I love how the collective sounds...just metalic and creepy...for a short story about Picard's assilmilation experience I wrote for a high school creative writing contest (I won btw) it was difficult describing the voice I was trying to get across how errie and scary it would be hearing it. Metalic, cold, almost a chilling harmonic quality to it.

Seemingly one person, Jeff Coopwood, was used for the main voice in the film. I just found this on Wikipedia: Link

This, and Kryton. Even an entry-level program like Adobe Premiere Elements will let you manipulate audio in such a fashion. It's far from difficult.

Good call. I used Adobe Audition. I'm sure many of the same options are available in both.

Id like to reccomend Audacity. Its a good sound editing program.

I didnt even try until I opened this thread but all you need to do is record whatever you want to say and then copy and paste it into a new layer. Apply a different pitch and bass boost to each layer and congratz. You have your own Borg collective!

Note: It's a free download however the link escapes me, just Google "Audacity Sound Editor"

About the best you can do is talk into a fan while trying to sound evil.

I almost spit coke all over the computer screen.

But, seriously... find the Buzz Lightyear voice modifier. One of those sounds like the Borg.

I'm sure they just gather 100 people in one room and have them recite the lines. These are all people they get off the street and are not excited to be there, therefore they sound unemotional. I say this because when I'm in church and we start saying the creed (or something else), it sounds just like the Borg.

"WE BELIEVE IN ONE GOD,
THE FATHER THE ALMIGHTY,
THE MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH,
OF ALL THAT IS SEEN AND UNSEEN...

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE."

Chilling!

It freaked me out the first time I noticed, too. Though it is sometimes fun to imagine the Borg actually saying that. Same with whenever a large group says the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tune into CSPAN at around 8am and you can hear the House of Representatives doing the pledge. CSPAN 2 shows the Senate but theres only a hundred of them so it doesnt sound as good. The House of Reps sounds very close to the Borg.

Yes, exactly. When I first recognized it, I thought it was funny. I had to keep myself from laughing.

If I get a few extra minutes I'll make a fun one that should be silly as can be in the next day or two. :) (Suggestions welcome.)

I had an idea for the series finale of TNG in which Earth is surrounded by cubes--hundreds of 'em. Picard and Riker are on the bridge:

Picard: I didn't want to say it in front of everyone but you've seen them. I've seen them. They've seen them. We're fucked.

CUT TO BLACK--BOBW CLIFFHNGER MUSIC PLAYS THEN PAUSES FOR:

Borg Voice: Bend over and take it like a man.

That's my suggestion.

Locutus and the Chipdrones.

Is it possible to do in Audacity? My voice probably wouldn't be good for it because the Borg collective usually sounds male (though my voice is pretty much on the lower end of female) but I might try if it's possible. *doesn't want to do it now cuz her roommate's asleep*

BTW, Kryton, that was pretty good!

I am a guy with a fairly deep voice and I can make it sound like a high pitched girl so I doubt youll have any problems, just adjust the pitch negative of zero for the deeper effect, adjust it by 10% in each layer to create a chorus.

Throw in a bass boost and a phaser effect and you get a cool new Borg voice.

Weird. Captain Panaka was the voice of the Borg.

And Kryton, you have no idea how weird it is to hear the Borg voice coming from Mermaidman.
