Greetings, fellow Blacklisters! The premier of Season 10 is upon us, and at long last, we begin the final chapter in the saga of Raymond Reddington. At this point, I can't really speculate on how it will all end, other than the fact I expect that there will be full disclosure as to who Red really is (and let's face it, we pretty much know that, but in-universe, the majority of the characters don't. And most of those who did, are now dead).

I can only hope that after ten long years, we get some form of a satisfying conclusion to this show that I still enjoy, despite its many flaws.

The season premier airs tomorrow, Sunday, February 26 at 10:00 P.M. EST

The Blacklist is entertaining again.... as long as they keep their foot on the gas and don't spin their wheels like they've done more often than not.

I agree, this premier was one of the best eps in a very long time. This could be a good ride.

Sorry about the video disappearing. Kind of a moot point now that the show is on.

How about a sudden left turn for the season 10 villain? It would require a retcon of the bones, but the mastermind behind Wujing is.... the real Raymond Reddington.

That would be cool, but as you say, it would require overlooking what has become the predominant theme of this show for the past five seasons (or so) - Red's actual identity.

And are we certain that there IS a mastermind behind Wujing?

Probably not, but it's one of the stupid things 24 did practically every season. The bad guy behind the bad guy. Except season 4, where they liked Arnold Vosloo so much they kept him around and made him the final bad guy.

Usually when The Blacklist has a bad guy stick around, he's not that interesting, like Neville Townsend or "Katarina Rostova."

Gotta agree with you on your last comment there. Both Kaplan and Marvin were far more interesting as the 'Big Bad' in their respective seasons, and what worked, I think, was not making it so apparent that THEY were the bad guys early on.

I'm fine with Wujing being the final 'Big Bad', rather than pulling a rabbit out of the hat at the very end.

Going back to the subject of Red's identity, I read an article a few days ago that claimed one of the predominant theories right now is that Red is actually the Real Raymond Reddington, who faked his own death after the fire. This makes little sense to me - if you're claiming to be the person you were to begin with, what's the point, precisely? If you were going to fake your own death, wouldn't you then assume a new identity? Plus, as Aragorn pointed out, it would also require a complete retcon of the bones in the bag, a McGuffin now long forgotten at this point (at least in story).

Plus, assuming that all the clues can be taken at face value, they point to Red being a sex-changed Katarina. It's theory that fits the best, and if Red really IS Katarina and Liz read the letter before she got killed... Then it certainly explains her reticence to pull the trigger on Red.

All food for thought.

So I guess the Wujing storyline is really over after alll (or so it seems). I wonder where the season is going to go from here.

After watching the 'Morgana' installment, I'm now really baffled with whatever Red is up to. Is he pulling the plug on all of his operations because he no longer has Liz to take over the empire, or is he settling his affairs because we're going back to the mysterious illness storyline from Season 8? I keep going back to the comment he made to Cooper when they were getting strange food from a street vendor, "Live like you're dying, right Harold?"

So, the question becomes: Is Red actually on his last legs? If so, he still looks fairly hale for a person who's terminal.

Or is it something WAY beyond that, I wonder?

I'm still not entirely certain what Red's really up to, unless of course, he really is about to kick the bucket.
The final two episodes are titled, not surprisingly:

Raymond Reddington, Part 1

Raymond Reddington, Good Night

It's hard to believe after ten years, tonight is the last of The Blacklist. While I think it's time for it to end, I'm also a bit sad to see it go.

My plan is to watch as much of it live as I can, but as I've got to get up at 3:00 A.M. for work, I may not see the ending until tomorrow night.

Hope a few others show up with me this evening.

:techman:

The Beginning of the End is here. I'll try to limit my comments to anything major, unless anyone else decides to join in.

I really doubt in real life that a mere congressman would be questioning a suspect in an active criminal investigation.

One of the many liberties this show takes.
