Spoilers The Blacklist - Season 6 Discussion Thread

Ressler's private investigation is certainly taking us further into the 'Red-is-really-Katarina-with-a-sex-change' territory. Especially with that final glimpse of the photo, showing that it was Dom who picked up the letter. For me, one of the biggest clues that supports this theory is when after recovering the bones at the end of last season, Red & Dembe went to pick up Dom before throwing the bones into a metal trashcan and burning them. I mean of all people, why would the imposter go to Katarina's father, to burn the bones of the real Reddington, unless there is some deep connection between Dom and fake-Red? The notion that Red is Rostova goes a long ways towards explaining their somewhat strained relationship.

I don't buy all of Dom's story especially because Reddington wants to know exactly what he told Liz. That pretty much means that there is more to it. I don't think Fake Red is really Katarina's childhood friend. Maybe she killed him and took his place.

I haven't had the chance to watch either ep yet, but I sort of spoiled myself by going online at lunchtime yesterday and reading a review of the second one. Hmmm. Not at all sure that would explain things, especially why the Red we know is so overwhelmingly concerned about Liz's well-being.

Unless he IS her father, and the real RR was not. The only two things we know with any certainty is that: A - the bones in the bag belonged to the man who WAS Raymond Reddington, and B - the man who wore the shirt that Cooper removed from the evidence lock-up actually fathered Liz. That does not mean by any stretch that these two facts point to the same person. Until I watch this and think about it a bit more, I'm inclined to think that Reddington (the real one) was already dead and buried on the farm prior to the man in the shirt (Liz's biological father) was injured. As to when she was conceived, it could have happened either before or after RR was reduced to a pile of bones.

Damn you, Jon Bokenkamp!

Red is (the real) Red.
Here's a clue:
At the end of the episode, "Red" says "I am what I am. Popeye the SAILOR MAN". The real Red was a NAVAL Intelligence Officer. I don't think he said that for no reason.

We'll find out Red took on the persona of Ilya to infiltrate the Russians. When that went south he kept the layer of imposter. It's been a long time since we heard about the cabal and that was brought up a few times so the current President and Anna McMahon could be involved in whatever survived that plot.

That sure didn't take long for Ressler to poke holes in last week's flashback episode. Keen asked an important question last week that Red brushed aside. Now Ressler also asked a different important question.

I think you might be onto something here. That does seem to be a blatant clue, and it does hark back to when Red told Keen that he always wanted to be the captain of his own ship.

So, if Red is in fact, the Real Raymond Reddington (who I will refer to from this point as Triple-R), then who the hell was the pile of bones? Was the DNA report a fake, claiming this person was Triple-R when in fact, it was someone else? Ilya, perhaps, as suggested above? And does Dom know this and he only told Liz a version of the truth, or was what he told her what he actually believed to be the truth? One clue here is that he refers to Red as 'Raymond'. Would he do that in private if he knew Red to be someone else?

I truly hope the two-part finale on May 17 answers this, but being as we're getting a Season 7, likely they'll continue to drag this mystery out. Or at the least, they may reveal the truth to the viewing audience in a manner that would still leave Liz, Cooper, Ressler and others in the dark.

It's about five minutes to the season finale and for once, I actually have the opportunity to watch the show while it's on. I'll probably be on only one on doing commentary, but what the hell.

Although I highly doubt that we're really going to learn more about Red's identity tonight, I'm going on record to say that I really don't for a minute believe that he's Ilya Koslov. It just seems too convenient. It's he's not Triple-R, then he's Katarina.

Showtime!

Just about half-way through and it feels like an awful lot to be wrapped up in a short time. I hope the resolution doesn't feel rushed, but it's been pretty decent thus far.

Well, that was most interesting. Looks like I was wrong about Red being Katarina. What a hell of a set-up for next season.

OK Blacklisters, I eagerly await your comments!

How about the bones are Ilya, and the only reason they were DNA match for Red is because the DNA they have on file was obtained while Ilya was being Red? I dunno. In real life, the military didn't start keeping DNA samples of active personnel until 1991, which would be after Red disappeared.

I wonder if there are a enough legitimate clues that this show leaves to come up with actual conclusions or if everyone is just throwing things at the wall to see what sticks.

Dembe is back, cool. Where was he at the end? OK, sometimes Red pulls these silly on his own meetings, but was this really the time? I'm guessing Katarina could be Blacklister #1? No doubt, she'll be a big part of the next season. Agnes is back and safe? Wow, that's a big assumption after what you've been through, Liz.

That was a fun episode and an unexpected ending.

That's the theory that Red is really Red, but why would he need to hide that from everyone? Only a handful people think he's Ilya, if that story is even true. Everyone else thinks he's Red. I'm wondering how much of this will hold water in the end and how much the show runners will have tripped over themselves.

Maybe Red is really Red? I don't know what the hell's going on now.

At this point, that's what I'm leaning towards, as I don't for a minute believe that he's Ilya Koslov. And quite obviously, I was completely wrong about him being a sex-changed Katarina. If he really IS Triple-R, then it really begs the question of WHO was in the bag of bones? And equally important, just who was the man that Red talked to on the bench? Could that be Ilya? And if so, then just what is his connection to Red and how many people where there the night of the fire?

I hope that whatever the answer is in the end, it somehow makes sense.
