The Blacklist, Season 2 Discussion

Yep, it works for her. She's getting better at interacting with Red, too, which is great. As for Red, we get to see him become a bit more ruthless, and just how nasty his past may be, which I'm all for, because James Spader is awesome and will play it to the hilt.

She was wearing a wig? hunh?

I just saw the virus episode. I can't believe there wasn't more media chatter about this episode coming out smack dab in the middle of the big ebola scare.

I'm calling it now; Lizzie is pregnant with Tom's child. At the top of the episode when she tells Red that she's safe and can take care of herself, she put her hand on her stomach.

Speaking of pregnancy, was there a reason her and Tom were adopting (or at least trying to) in the first season? As far as I can recall they never explained why, whether it was a problem with Liz or Tom.

Is it just me, or is Megan Boone not wearing a wig anymore?
There's actually a (very short) scene in the season premiere where Keen cuts her hair. And yeah when she comes back to the office, Aram tells her it looks nice.

I guess I had forgotten she cut her hair. Now that you mentioned it I can recall it.

Yeah, that was THE biggest non-surprise "surprise" ever. DUH.

I really wish they'd get rid of the Tom storyline. To be honest, Lizzie is probably the most boring character on the show now.

She always has been. They could have dropped that part of the story and have a revolving characters that Red talks with and it would still be successful.

I kind of wish they did kill Lizzie at the end of the first season. Throwing Red and everyone into a tailspin. Playing from behind, Berlin in control even more. Red out for total vengeance. Just imagine the possibilities.

I think killing off Lizzie would be great, because then the viewers would have NO idea what will happen next--which makes the show so much more enjoyable. But we know that they never will, so we have to trudge through all the lame FBI and Lizzie nonsense to get to the scenes with Red being all kinds of awesome, creepy, funny and cool. Luckily, those scenes are still awesome, and worth the wait. For now, anyway.

Yep, Red is the sole reason I watch now. Making Lizzie more "dangerous" or trying to pattern her a bit like Red isn't working as much as I'd hoped, and it just gets tedious. Red is the reason I watch.

No, don't kill her! She's pretty!

This season seems to be going a lot more fantastic in its villains and stepping further away from reality... not that it's a bad thing.

Missed this episode-wonder if that's a sign? I think Spader has a thing for the actress, frankly. Otherwise I can't imagine why she's there, other than to look good... she still can't act.

Ehhhhh ok Spader hooks me again. Nice backstory on his sidekick. And no apologies. The rest is generic B-film connect-the-dots FBI crime solving. Although it did dovetail nicely.

Emote, woman, emote!!

It was nice to finally learn something about Denbe, but it was bizarre the way the entire episode doesn't even show him or focus on him until that last last scene. Why not give him more screentime here?

I think they wanted to throw in a little "twist" in the end, although it was somewhat awkward. When my wife and I saw the intro, with both thought it might be a young Denbe (the timeframe was about right), but then the scene switched immediately to the African animal cartel guy, that I'm thinking we were then meant to believe it was him. They save the reveal till the very end - felt a little like bad editing there.

Does anyone else think it was oddly out-of-character for Red to give any kind of rat's ass about any social-political cause at this time in his life? Sure, he might have had some idealism early on in his life, but why would he still care at this point? Is this his own way at trying to hold on to his humanity? Unlikely, considering his statement at the end when he shot Ace, likening them both and placing Denbe as a higher class of individual. In his mind, he's made it clear that he already considers himself a condemned man. Or perhaps it's because of Denbe's personal experience with the cartels that Red rescued him from. Can't really figure out why he cares about anything at this point other than those on his black list.

For a second there, I thought Red was handing over his OWN daughter.

Nicely played.

I wish the rest of the show could be written as well as the segments with Red.
