In terms of "wow" impact in the theatre, the trailer that sets the gold standard for me is probably Watchmen, specifically the one with the Philip Glass score.

Revenge of the Sith: OMG! YODA FIGHTS SIDIOUS!!!

Watchmen: absolutely. I watched that trailer a million times. Much as I loved the movie, it did not live up to the trailer.

And a million others I can't think of at the moment.

Spider-Man! The one with the World Trade Center action piece. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjtXUULtH4EThe trailer set the perfect tone for a Spider-Man movie. I was excited. It was one of the few times a theater audience cheered for a trailer at the end!

The Comedian, Cloverfield, The Social Network.

The Superman Returns teaser was brilliant, a real example of the advert being so, so much better than the reality of what it was advertising.
