The Best Season Of Star Trek (1-TOS)

Hi, like to start a new game.

I will start with the original series and have a poll where you can vote for the best season.

And after the winner for TOS we will go to the next show.

After we have picked the best season from each show, then we will have a poll for the best season from each show and see what season wins at of all star treks.

It's time to find out what season is the best.

For me i have not watched TOS so i can't vote.

The vote will end on the 15 of November.

The best of TOS was from the last third of season one (beginning with "Space Seed") through the middle of season two (ending with "Journey To Babel"). But more of the highest quality episodes and the greater number of classic episodes happened in the season two portion.

The Devil in the Dark
The City on the Edge of Forever

Classic Season Two Episodes (during the time specified):

Amok Time
Mirror, Mirror
The Doomsday Machine
Metamorphosis
Journey to Babel

Season 2 got my vote.

Season 1 gives you the "Roddenberry" episodes (the first dozen or so where Shatner was at his absolute best as Kirk) as well as the "Roddenberry and Coon" episodes which were the show's golden ones (the period CrazyMatt mentioned which continues two thirds into Season 2).

Season 2's last third drags it down -- out of budget, out of ideas and some tired actors putting in either over the top or jaded performances.

Season 3 is every sense is several notches below the first two.

So I'll go with Season 1.

ST:TOS was similar to my life in that it went through birth (season 1), maturity (season 2) and senility (season 3). I'll vote for season 2, even though the latter episodes were weak, as others have already said.

While there are growing pains aplenty, Season 1 has an atmosphere that's lacking in the other seasons...particularly the feeling of the ship really being out there in the vastness of space far from civilization, though not limited strictly to that.

Season one was - of course - the best season. There was a higher percentage of good to excellent stories. Season two was still good but, there were a few more stinkers in the mix and yes - season three definitely had quite a few bad to mediocre stories...

That being said, there are very good episodes all through the show's three seasons.

Season 2- comes with a caveat-

The necessity of humor at the wrap up/end of the eps- no matter the level of death and or destruction which had come before.

Journey to Babel, Amok Time, Doomsday Machine - Can't beat 'em.

Oh, and my Avatar likes The Trouble with Tribbles, but he's biased (and evil)

Season two slightly edges out one for me. COTEOF and Space Seed are the best episodes overall, but S2 has more consistent winners.

Don't know why but the date has changed but from the looks, season 1 wins for TOS.

Good. Season one is the one I rewatch the most, though season two has a lot of good episodes in it too. And there are only a few from season three I watch again.
