The Best of the Novelverse

Its May and the summer holiday is getting sooner,so I've decided to spend (or at least a part of it) my Google Credits (you can get those with the Google Opinion Rewards.). Since I don't want to spend these 'credits' on movies (the dvd/blu-ray cost less, and then there is Netflix) or in-app purchases, these are going to waste, sooner or later,I was thinking about purchasing ST-ebooks. And there is the problem: there are too many books out there with 4+ ratings. So,I would like to ask You,to help this mortal by guiding him to the very good ones. Thank you in advance.

Have you read any TrekLit before?
And what's your prefered show/setting? There's loads of stuff set after Nemesis, and I do mean LOADS!! But there's also a magnificent series called Star Trek Vanguard. As a novelseries, it's done and over, so you could basicly read a whole new Star Trek show, set during TOS.

Question 1: Yes,I purchased 'A Stitch in Time' 3 or 4 days ago at a book store. I love it.
Question 2: Post DSN/Nemesis. I'm watching TOS now, but it has way too many godlike aliens.

I would love to see some new characters, too.

Regarding new characters Vanguard is really great. Believe me, I was skeptical myself, but I didn't regret it when I finally read the Vanguard novels.
The Never-Ending Sacrifice by Una McCormack is awesome.

If you're looking for post Nemesis, a good place to start would be the first Titan book, Taking Wing. Along with introducing the Titan and it's crew, it also deals with the situation on Romulus after Shinzon's death. The post-Shinzon Romuluan politics was actually an ongoing arc that ran through several books. I think this is actually the second book in the story, but I read it first with no problem. Memory Beta, the Wiki for Star Trek books, games, comics, ect. is a good resource if you have any questions, just be careful when reading older books, there are a lot of spoilers on the site.

Taking Wing was the debut Titan novel. Its story threads were continued in The Red King. Although I think it does pick up some Romulan-politics threads from TNG: Death in Winter.

Just read Destiny and Vanguard.

For real.

I've given the Destiny trilogy and the Vanguard series to four separate people who'd never even seen a Star Trek episode ever, and even they loved them. Everyone finished Destiny; three out of four finished Vanguard. Quality stories, those.
