The best looking render of the Defiant?

Legacy, definately:

Say what you like about the gameplay (IMO, it's not anything to write home about, but playable enough if you're a Trek fan), but it's got the best-looking and most accurate starship models of any Trek game out there. :)

[EDIT] Found the actual model of it - like all the ships in the game, I'm really impressed by the attention to detail here:

Are we talking official, or fan-made mods?

Because there are models of the Defiant for Bridge Commander that make pretty much all the official renders in all the games look awful.

Fan made wise, I'd go with the Excalibur project's model:

Along with a video about their lighting engine system works:

It's a group of ex-Bridge Commander modders and scripters creating a game that Bridge Commander should have been.

Excalibur not only brings the franchise up to date with the latest visual effects from the NanoFX renderer, it also delivers an unprecedented level of detail to create the most authentic Star Trek experience. From characters, to ships, to planets and solar systems right through to the single player campaign, every element of Excalibur has been researched and referenced exhaustively to ensure it stays true to the shows.

Oh, I forgot to include a link to their website. http://www.stexcalibur.com/

Enjoy!
