The best episode of Voyager - Part Two

BlueStuff

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
Okay Trek fans, this game was successful on the TNG and DS9 boards, and I hope it prospers here as well. Here's the game. The basic idea is your standard elimination game. I'll provide a list of the episodes for each season and you need to eliminate your least favorite or the one you deem the 'worst.' Please provide an EXPLANATION for why you are eliminating your choice and be sure to copy and paste the list with your choice removed. Finally, leave at least 2 eliminations by other posters before you play again. Not a very accurate way of determining the best episode, but a fun game nonetheless. Pretty simple. Enjoy! :bolian:

Eliminating Elogium. Beyond plain disliking Kes and by proxy Kes-episodes, it also introduces us to the very contrived and pessimistic concept that the numbers of the Ocampa are cut in half every generation and the race will die out rapidly and irrevocably.

I'm removing Non Sequitur. A good enough vehicle for Harry, but up until that point he had been a supporting character only and all of a sudden he was not only the star of the episode, but carried the episode almost entirely. The story and the character weren't good enough to warrant removing the entire cast (except for Tom who hardly had any screen time).

Elogium was eliminated three posts prior to yours :) not sure why it came up on some lists after my post.

I eliminate The Thaw. Just a terrible plot, with terrible acting.

Removing "Resistance," my least favorite episode of Season 2.

:wtf: It's probably the best episode of the season. Super surprised to hear someone doesn't like it.

Taking out The 37s - a stupid idea to start with, and it's always bothered me that no one decides to leave the ship and stay on the planet. Unrealistic and it would have been much more dramatically interesting to watch Janeway deal with the reality that maybe not everyone is on board with this 80 year journey business.

Removing Innocence. This episode was just really really boring, probably moreso than Unforgettable.

Innocence cracks me up. Maybe I'm alone in that. It reminds me of Galaxy Quest and the miners who look like minors.

Dr. Lazarus: "Could those be the miners?"
Fred: "Sure. They're like, 3 years old."
Dr. Lazarus: "I said miners not minors!"

I eliminate The Thaw. Just a terrible plot, with terrible acting.

No way! Have any of you played Fallout 3? It's got a part similar to this episode (Tranquility Lane). Granted, the help-I'm-trapped-inside-a-machine plot concept might be corny, but it's a plot theme I absolutely love for some reason.

I'm eliminating Cold Fire. Mostly because I dislike the Ocampa dude and the interpersonal situations that arise in the episode. It makes me uncomfortable. (Actually, thinking about it more, most episodes involving Kes, other than Fury, I find uncomfortable.) I actually liked the fact that the episode included another caretaker, even though I didn't like the episode "Caretaker."

Taking out Tuvix. Talk a lack of morality on Janeway's part!

I'm also going to say I loved the Thaw. Sending the Doctor in is a great idea, and when you watch it, you think it's just that - a great idea without realising it was actually setting up the holographic Janeway at the end. I love episodes where they out think the bad guy, and the Thaw delivers it in spades.
