The best episode of DS9 - Part Seven

For the record, "Afterimage" is one of my all-time favorite eps--beautifully written, and it allows Miss de Boer to really show off her considerable acting skills.

Still, it's nice to see it's survived this far. It's had some stiff competition.

'cause it made Admiral Ross kind of a bad guy

^Funny--I always saw it as a way of forcing the audience to not shrug off Section 31 as "the bad guys"--the fact that a good, decent and honorable man like Ross would ally himself with them.

"Treachery, Faith, and the Great River". A good enough ep, and it sets up some nice stuff for the Final Chapter...but it's the least impressive of the episodes remaining, to be honest.

'Til Death Do Us Part - the fact that everyone is so clueless about what the Prophets are trying to tell Sisko is mind-blowing. They're not commanding him not to get married, they're warning him.

And correct if I'm wrong, but is this the episode where Jake can't understand why Sisko sees the Prophet Sarah as his mother? Seriously?! How many times do these people have be to taught that the Prophets are for real?

I know what you mean. I had to struggle not to cry during the final scene.

Mostly because it was the end of a truly epic series that could never be matched by anything else, and also because the episode was sad in general. D:

I'm not going to eliminate an episode. The remaining ones are all too awesome to go.

The Changing Face of Evil, because Strange Bedfellows has the awesome scene where Damar laughs at Weyon's death and because Tacking into the Wind has perhaps the most epic scene in the entire series - Worf's killing of Gowron.

I'm taking out Strange Bedfellows, because Tacking into the Wind is clearly superior - it was the climax of the great arc about the Cardassian rebellion, great resolution to the Klingon arc, and has none of the Pah-wraiths stuff.

Tacking into the Wind - the deserved winner!

I think overall, I agree with the DS9 winners more than the TNG winners. The final part is going to be very difficult.

It would have come down to Changing Face of Evil and Tacking Into the Wind for me too...and then I honestly have no idea which I would have picked to win. I might have chosen Changing Face just because of that great scene where Solbor confronts Winn, who panics and stabs him. That's probably my favourite scene in the whole Final Chapter.

Season 1 - Duet
Season 2 - Necessary Evil
Season 3 - Second Skin (but The Die Is Cast is a great choice, too)
Season 4 - The Visitor
Season 5 - Call to Arms
Season 6 - In the Pale Moonlight
Season 7 - Tacking into the Wind

I don't have a problem with In A Purgatory's Shadow winning 5, either... I just think it's ludicrous that Duet didn't win season 1. Well, that makes my decision what to pick for the overall winner much easier.

Don't forget--it also had one of Ezri's greatest moments, where she effectively destroys Worf's state of denial about the Klingon Empire, and cleverly puts all of his conflicts and struggles with other Klingons into perspective.

Say what you will about Ezri, but she's got a wisdom and insight far beyond her years--which she's quick to point out that Curzon and Jadzia didn't have.

Personally, though, I think I'd have prefered "Changing Face", as it frankly has all the makings of a season-ending cliffhangar. Exciting, suspenseful, full of tension and build-up...the final sequence with Damar's speech really makes the whole arc.

So, why couldn't TPTB push for a Season Eight, again?

(Still, my sentimental favorite is "Afterimage", for obvious reasons. Also, I can't understand that one guy's murderous hatred of Vic Fontaine....)
