Major props to whoever created that. :techman:

That's funny! I actually traded PM's with the fellow a couple years back when I was an administrator on Wikipedia.

Aw, come on. Bidmead did several great stories, least of all Logopolis and Castrovalva.

You and I have a very different definition of "great stories." :vulcan:

Having said that, while I don't think much of his era, he amuses me too much to have any dislike for the guy. I like the fact he stands by what he did, and won't be moved - if you get past his MASSSIIIIVVEEE, Christopher "I wanted the name Hamilton on the credits but it wouldn't fit" Bidmead-sized, ego, he's a pretty nice guy.

That book cover does sum him up pretty well though. :D

I think the cover is more in reference to Bidmead's take on RTD in DWM a few months ago than his stories way back when. Said Bidmead:
Russell, who I shouldn't call Russell, as I don't know him and have never met him, is what I call a first-draft writer. He sits down in the heat of the moment and churns out something that's delightful and inventive and wonderful. But writing's not about that. It's about going back into that script, and cutting it, and shaping it. The problem is, Russell will put a first-draft script into the studio, because he can. He's in charge!
Of course, anyone who's read The Writer's Tale knows that RTD labors over his scripts, so Bidmead's assertion is factually incorrect.

Not to mention the fact that Bidmead has a tendency to ramble on and on and on...

It'd be more flattering for Russell if it were true, considering some of the irredeemable rubbish he's churned out over the years.

Ah, thank you for that clarification, Allyn. I hadn't read his comments on this or Davies' book.
