The Best ... and the Worst

Bad Thoughts

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I'm not sure if anyone will find this interesting, let alone helpful, but I would love running thread looking at how DS9 fits into various best and worst lists, whether about the series itself, in the franchise, or in general.

First Entry:
Title: My Top 10 Worst Secondary Star Trek Characters
Source: TriAngulum Audio Studios
Date: 8/26/2019
Entries:
  • (Dis)honorable mentions: Melora
  • 10. Michael Eddington (actor too wooden, no sense of inner conflict in performance)
  • 6. Admiral William Ross (actor doesn't portray authority)
  • 5. Cal Hudson (leadership seemed lacking in character,no good reason to turn against Federation)
  • 3. Vedek Bareil (wish washy, over the top)
Bad showing for DS9 on this list, but I think that it is an instance in which long term development for recurring characters. I don't think Ross would have appeared if he were only one time, and I'll bet they were looking to jettison Philip Anglim sooner.

Second Entry
Title: Top 10 Space Stations from Movies and TV
Source: Watch Mojo
Date: 9/1/2015

Entry: 4. Deep Space Nine

Sort of obvious. I have to ding the list for including the Death Star, which in spite of what it is called, is not a space station.

I thought that Eddington was great, but yeah, after the fact. After the Marquis revelation. Before, he was rather wooden, except for a few seconds here and there which only served to confuse the audience, but not Sisko.

As for Vedek Bereil, he was was a good-looking man for sure, and there were some spiritual moments between him and Kira in nature on Bajor . . .

I liked his character. ( Eddington)
I thought he acted all wooden on purpose because he was hiding a huge aspect f his life from everyone. He couldn't let on to how he really felt. But from almost the first time you saw him you knew that he was up to something, but that's how they always do tv shows, it's obvious to the viewer but the characters are oblivious.

Third Entry?
