The Atlantis team should be shot on sight in the Pegasus Galaxy

I just posted a rant in the "Inquisition" thread so I won't go over those points again, but I'll just say that based on SG-1's experience with the Gou'ald, the Atlantis expedition should've had general orders similiar to the Prime Directive to use in Pegasus.

Also, when they got a hold of Earth again, Weir's report of the first season's shenanigans would've gotten her fired and the whole project shut down. It astounds me how cavalier these people, especially McKay, are with the technology they barely understand and with affecting cultures they don't care about.

They're like conquistadors fucking over the Aztecs every week.

Yes, the hilarious incompetence of the Atlantis folks has been a source of ongoing wonderment to me. Why hasn't the IOA figured out how hideously dangerous they are? :rommie:

The obvious smart move, for some time now, has been to shut the freaking Atlantis program down, destroy the Stargate or lock it out permanently, and get everyone back to Earth. There's nothing in Pegasus that is worth the mammoth security risk this program poses to Earth, even if we assume the Atlanteans are 100% on their game instead of apparently trying to get the whole human race slaughtered.

Here's a thought. Borrow a second ZPM from the odyssey, ancient outpost, etc, fly Atlantis back to earth, park it in one of our honkin' big oceans (it's what, 80% water?), give back the borrowed ZPM, and not only do we have lotsa safety, we can bring in a load of scientists to finally explore every last inch of the city!

Oh, wait, the stargate hasn't been revealed to the public, how are they going to explain everyone plying the shipping routes see a honkin' big city in the middle of the ocean? Cloak it? That would go down well... *cruise liner is doing its thing in the atlantic... can't see Atlantis.. BAM, CRACK, SINK, WTF*

Just put it in the bermuda triangle and let it be another unexplained mystery...

What would be the point of having Atlantis at all if you're goingto set it on earth, that's one of the reasons it was placed a planet in another galaxy otherwise there's no good reason to leave the SGC in the first place. And in any event you can have two active stargates on one planet.

I don't get your point.

I agree with Temis. Land Atlantis in the middle of the South Pacific, somewhere in between the Solomons and Fiji. Shut down the SGC program in Colorado. Mothball that gate. The IOA sets up shop in the city, making Atlantis the hub of all internationally-directed Stargate operations. The IOA doesn't have to get pissed that the Americans run the gate. The US doesn't have to stress over funding the majority of the SGC program. The US still remains dominant in galactic affairs mostly due to a larger fleet of 304s. But mainly, they get out of Pegasus Galaxy so McKay, Sheppard and Tumor Boy doesn't destroy more stuff.
