Spoilers THE ARK (2023)

I'm still looking at it, on Peacock. The fifth episode, "Museum of Death" was the best for me so far this season. I'm rooting for the series and hopes it gets renewed.
I really hope so too.

Syfy has a show "after the ark", a stalking Dead type show. And for episode 4 they were talking about the cast's fantasy crossovers.

I am surprised no one mentioned the Outpost, and am beginning to write up a script for it. I would love the chance to pitch it.

The last few episodes have been interesting. I kind of agree with the show not being necessarily good in all aspects, but I admit I'm enjoying some of S2. They're using a bit of plot thickener.
:D

I still am enjoying it. I think the stories are a bit rushed, but the endings keep me coming back. I think the creative design/special effects are good enough (though it would be nice if they had the budget to give them an Expanse gloss). But overall, I like these characters and how the creatives have made good use of the confines of each episode largely being a bottle show.

This week's episode (9), was a bit jarring. Was waiting for the typical reset button to be pushed (regarding a certain character) we always see, but they surprised with an unexpected plot twist. The annoying K-Drama standard of every guest character somehow knowing or related to a main character reared it's head, and was a bit of a stretch... would anything have worked out differently if Ava's former bestie hadn't conveniently been onboard the Feddie ship?

And why in space did 2 medical professionals stand there and not wonder why Psycho girl's nannites were inside Farm Boy? They never knew how Angus suddenly recovered from almost dying...
And where da fudge did all those clones go off to? Surely Angus couldn't have 'Soylet Greened' the dead ones that quickly. Non lethal organ transplants (with consent, in exchange for reduced insurrection sentences of course) for you, and you...organ transplants for everybody!

Yeah, I wondered if the episode wouldn't have worked better if some of the elements had been stretched into an ongoing arc or similar to a two-parter. The preview for next week seems to be unrelated plot, so not sure where that'll go.

I thought this week's episode was the best yet, though I agree with some of the quibbles or dislikes I've read here. While looking at the episode the few for me was the Eastern Fed crew agreeing to accept two Ark I people of far lesser importance than their captain and first officer. I get Felix going, but really, Lane or Brice should've gone with him. I also thought Trust cooked up that pulse way too quickly. I also didn't care for Ava knowing the Fed officer. That just felt like lazy writing to me. I hadn't even thought of using the other clones for organ donors but now I wish that had been discussed even if for the clones to refuse.

All that being said, I liked a lot of the character work in this episode. Lane's fate was unexpected, but I thought the Garnet actress did a very good job really making those scenes wrenching. And it was even more affecting because the writers took the time to smooth over things with Brice and Lane beforehand, which made what happened later more unexpected. I was thinking they would have it be Ian, but I liked his response to that expectation. I also really liked learning more about the GSA and the Eastern Fed and how the Ark I crew has to grapple with the unsavory side of the GSA. I also liked the Fed captain. He had a nobility, and a weariness about him that allowed me to overlook how agreeable he was. I would've liked a bit more suspicion, but these episodes move too fast for that it seems.

If I had my druthers the episode would've ended differently. I might have had the Fed officer kill the other Ark security officer (no way is Felix buying the farm and I wouldn't want that. He has to be one of the most popular, if not the most popular, characters) to prove she meant business. The Feds kept allowing Ark I to miss the deadlines they imposed. And I would've had Trust ignore Garnet and attack the Feds' life support, but something goes wrong and both ships are compromised. And then, that's when the aliens appear. Kidding about the alien part, but I imagine that if the series is renewed, there will be more aliens next season.

I thought keeping Ian in place of Lane was an interesting choice, but I'm not sure yet if it was a good choice (clearly it's partly convenience, since they're played by the same actor :D). I honestly kind of expected at first that Ian's lines about the clones being organ donors meant he might offer his own life to save both victims, and I admit personally I would have probably kept Lane since he has more character development as a main role. But I'm keeping an open mind for the rest of the season. :)

What were they thinking with those awful "outdoor" green screen scenes? How hard would it be to find a bit of waste ground in Serbia to shoot on?

Somewhat surprising, but the show has been announced as renewed for Season 3, with a 2026 air date. It’s clearly a low-dollar production, but entertaining enough and trying some stuff in the space sci-fi genre, so happy to see it get a crack at another season. Seemed somewhat wrapped up, but left it open ended, so looks like they are getting their shot.

Not really that surprising, it is a really cheap show so much that as long as just one person watches it, it turns a profit. Calm down, that's a joke, I know television doesn't really work that way.

However, given SyFy tends to drop shows after three seasons, I fully expect this to be the last.

It's cheap and dumb, but kind of fun in some ways.
