The Apprentice UK

I missed it, but then there's always iPlayer. I'll look for it there....

[sings to self] Dum-de-dum-de-DUM-de-dum-de-dum-de-dum-de-DUM! DUUUUUUUM...

I caught it. It's the first time I've seen an entire episode, and I watched the follow-up on BBC 2.

It's the first time I've seen the first spisode of a series in fact.

I think I'm going to like these guys. :guffaw:

Personally I can't wait to see what Harry Hill makes of it this Saturday... ;)

Look up "Harry Hill Apprentice" on YouTube... :guffaw:

The best one is the season finale a few years ago, when Harry is called to the ITV bosses boardroom...

There will be the usual repeats on BBC2, which this year will be on Thurdays at 7pm...there's still time to catch it tonight, Zion Ravescene. :D

*Goes away to check out Harry Hill*

P.S. I thought the celebrity Comic Relief ones were great too... especially Cheryl Cole and Trinny... Classic moment when Cheryl says to Trinny: "Have you got a touch of that OCD then"...

I saw it on iPlayer earlier today. The Geordie bloke and the Asian "loudmouth" guy are hilarious. :guffaw:

The women are actually quite the lookers this year. :D

The loudmouth was sooo sexist! "I'll get my wife for the cleaning" indeed!

As to when the girls failed the task, I couldn't believe how poisonous they were to one another, turning on each other like a pack of wolves! And the thing is, it's like that with the women EVERY year. Wow.

Oh no, not Maj, it's the other guy whose name escapes me. Maj was just idiotic there...

Heck, that's why I like to watch the show, for the bitching in the first few weeks. :bolian:

And of course Sir Alan's quips at the team names...
Alan: "So you're Team Empire... and you're the Emperor?"
Boys: [ politely and nervously]

But yeah, the Boys' team leader was pretty pathetic. He'll be gone next week, I hope. ;)

The things he comes up with! It's all in the delivery actually, isn't it... Apparently, they don't script for him, unlike Mr Trump. What about the Sugar's opening spiel, where he basically tells them not to fuck around... words to the affect of: "If you try to play me, I'm going to play you like a pair of bongo drums..."

^^^ Sir Alan comparing himself to a Stradivarius...?! :guffaw:

I also see he used the Diamond Metaphor™ this year.

It's completely made-up, they just film the scenes again and again and again to get the right reactions. A friend of mine is in it this year (on the girl's side - who doesn't matter) and she was telling me they get lots of direction about what to say and how to react.

I have no doubt they get some direction... the end result would be virtually unwatchable otherwise, and that program is way too sleek in every way to not have some experienced directors, etc, taking care of most conceivable details... still, no one can be forced to say anything they don't want to, and there definitely would NOT be a prepared "script". On the spot direction/suggestion, sure, that's what good television is all about.
