The annual what do you want for Christmas thread

I am trying to convince myself into buying myself the Complete Calvin and Hobbes for Christmas. It costs £48.95 from Amazon UK (about $73 Australian). At the moment "Naturally Frugal Self" is debating with "You Can Afford It Self" over the wisdom of this purchase.

We've been downsizing in anticipation of moving to a smaller place, and I've been getting rid of some of our books and DVD's also (my wife wants to get rid of as many books as possible and go all electronic, but there's something about physical books that I want my four year old son to grow up with).

Anyways, as I was sorting through my books, I realized there was one book I've wanted to pick up for years, and it's not really expensive, and if I just didn't buy two or three other books I don't want as much, I could just order it and I would have it.

I want the Dark Empire Trilogy hardback edition. That's all. I have the first two books in softcover, and I have the audio drama; I just want the collected hardcover.

I think that's one of the secrets to not accumulating too much extra "stuff" in your home. Find the one or two things you really like, and spend a little extra on them, and then you'll treasure those things even more and you might be less likely to fill that "space" with other cheaper things. Quality over quantity I guess.

Sorry to ramble, but this just happened the other day, and I've really been thinking about it with the upcoming gifting season.
