And are probably the same kind of people who keep walking up to the bison out east and end up getting gored.
It's kind of scary how clueless people are when it comes to wild animals. A while back my mom told about a story she read online where people gave Yellowstone or one of the other big national parks a bad review online because they didn't put all of the animals in cages at night.

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe Hippos kill more people than any other animals in Africa, or at least more than the big predators like Lions.

Yep - they're called "morons" as in...

What you've got to remember is that these are simple farmers. People of the land. The common clay of the new west. You know...morons.
 
I think a lot of them are probably city people who have never been around pets or animals in zoos. Most farmers would probably at least know enough not to approach a big animal like a bison.
