Welcome back to a new season of The Amazing Race! The best travel porn that exists! Tonight’s 2 hour premier is the season premier airing at 8/7c, don’t miss it! This thread is to discuss the premier live, as it is running, or if you choose, to discuss it after the show has aired. I will be here live tonight. Hopefully it won’t get preempted by sports games.

So let’s get this party started head over to the website to check out the new contestants.

http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race/

For the first time in the history of The Amazing Race, one team will be eliminated before the first leg even begins! Special 2 hour premier Sept. 27th at 8/7c.

I am excited they are having a 2 hour premier, but I’d be even more excited if they bring back the 2 hour finale.

So, out of the 12 teams up there, who are you rooting for or who has grabbed your attention, vote now, or vote after the premier.

Don't forget, it is at 8/7c

Yeah, I'd rather have a two hour finale than a two hour premiere, but it's cool that CBS seems to still want to support the show like this. I don't know anything about the teams, though, so I'll hold my comments until after the premiere.

Based on the bios, I voted for Mika & Canaan, who seem like a fit, young couple that could go far. The Globetrotters look like they could be good too. I'm curious about the elimination before the start of the first leg. Nice to see a 2-hr premiere, but I too would like to see a return of the 2-hr finale. Maybe this will be the season...

Dang, I was going to start this thread. :p But it wouldn't have been half as good as this one, so it's all good. ;)

I haven't read up on the team bios yet, so I don't know anything about them. I'll let the show introduce them.

Typically I've been doing it every year, I'm always here, and available to chat live each season.

After reviewing all of the team bios and some of the video interviews, I've decided that my favorites are Maria and Tiffany (poker players), and Sam and Dan (gay brothers). I tend to stay away from couples since they almost always end up letting their arguments get in the way of doing a great job. I'm sure the brothers will argue, but they'll get over it faster. And Maria and Tiffany look smart and like they will get along well.

I am looking forward to seeing how things go tonight!

I'm curious about the elimination before the start of the first leg.

It sounds like maybe someone is gonna get disqualified? Maybe there was some rule they didn't meet or something. OR, maybe they just decided to up and quit?

If you go to the CBS website there is a 3 minute clip of the beginning of the episode in which the whole someone getting eliminated before the race starts thing is explained.

Basically they just have a challenge right there at the starting line and the losing team goes home.

wow, that's pretty harsh, don't know how I feel about that, at least in past seasons you got to complete the first leg and fly out of the country before getting eliminated, that would suck majorly to be the first eliminated before the leg even begins!

Imagine how embarrassing it would be for any friends\family watching when it airs, too. That would hurt. :o

I'm excited TAR is back, though! Probably won't be able to watch this until tomorrow, but I hope y'all enjoy tonight's episode!

Darn, it is running late in my area  10 minutes before it comes on

that messes up my DVR

Wow, there seems to be a lot of the 'dating' couples and not as many of the 'married' ones. Wonderful! More arguments to watch!

Sorry man, I'll try to pace myself. :borg:

So who would everyone take with them if they were on the race? I'm not sure who I would bring. With my dad, we would both have a decent sense of what to do, but we would fail miserably on the eating weird stuff challenges. That and we would likely end up on one of "dad's tours" (aka, a long shortcut) at least once. :p

With my mom, it would just as bad since I'd probably be screaming at her to hurry up all the time, especially in the airports.

That, and I have no idea how to drive standard. So I'd be screwed. ;)

I'm a little worried so far. Outside of the Globetrotters, none of these teams really catch my interest.

I think if I were to go on TAR, I'd go with my older brother. We'd clash a lot in some instances and work together really well in others. It'd be interesting.

Finally it came on, just at the first commercial break now

Is it me or does Lance seem like a Douche

There are a lot of good lookin women this season

I think I know who I am rooting for already, we'll see if they make it past the first leg

The first task was actually pretty cool, finding the plate to the place you are going, and focuses on detail as the logo was right there in the clue, focusing on the details is important in this race, good lesson up front

Tokyo here they come, I like it when they go to Japan

Okay, this is starting out pretty promising. Two of the teams I like least are the ones left facing elimination. :D

So who would everyone take with them if they were on the race?

Easy, I'd take my sister, both of us are travelers, we love to travel, she has been to Africa on a mission trip, she is aware of the show and we watched a season if together and I explained pretty much everything about it, plus I've seen EVERY season of TAR, and it would be a great bonding experience for us, she won't qualify though for at least 2 years, have to be 18 right? If I couldn't take her, then my other sister who is older, I think we'd do real well in the race.
