The Amazing Race 2022 (Season 33)

Seems like the darts were the obvious right choice there. Even if you suck at darts you’ll probably bullseye once every 20 tries. So most teams can expect to both get it once every 40 rounds, and you can try again so quickly that’s always going to be quicker than making cakes.

I’m surprised Norway was not in the EU.

I didn't realize that, either. They should have known about the UK, though.

There were so many ridiculous mistakes - like who hasn't heard of London cops called bobbies? And those two idiots at the mail sorting task... sheesh. Yes, sometimes it really can be that easy.

I'd have picked the cake decorating over the darts. I've played darts, and am terrible at it.

The point is, even if you're terrible at darts, statistically you'll hit a couple bullseyes. Probably faster than a task that just takes a long time. Arun and person whose name I can't remember were bad at darts and they came in 3rd.

My point is that when it comes to tasks where you know you're bad at and have a very good chance at doing the other one, pick the one you're better at.

I don't have a lot of strength or hand-eye coordination when it comes to throwing things. I've never managed to hit a baseball more than about 3 times in my life, and playing darts for me is best done when you don't care how damaged the wall gets around the dart board.

On the other hand, decorating baked stuff is something I'm good at.

Something that will take an hour if you do it well versus something that will take 20 minutes if you do it poorly.

I didn't even know a new season was starting, and I came home from work and my wife had it on. What a pleasant surprise.
I'll be curious to see if any of those couples are now separated after the COVID break.
"Yes, we were soulmates, but now we hate each other, and we're contractually obligated to continue to race together."

That’d be kind of funny. “We broke up during COVID but we still want a million bucks, so…” I’d be a little surprised if Love Island didn’t break up.

Also prepared for a few of them to just be overweight after.

Or the opposite. It would be wonderful if we could refrain from body-shaming people here and just be happy the show is back. :vulcan:

I'm not body shaming anyone, I gained like 25 pounds during COVID, it's just a fact it happens, nothing shameful.
It's your business if you choose to share about yourself. But I am just asking that when we mock the players in this season that it be because they made a stupid decision, not because they gained weight.

Well, I'm not sorry to see that team eliminated. Holy crap, that must have been a pity clue at the end. I had to cover my ears.

So they're starting in Switzerland next week, and they've brought back some old teams to replace the ones who couldn't return. I wonder who they could be (hopefully not any annoying ones).

Am I the only one watching this?

I had to snicker at the song some of them chose. That's one that the Irish Rovers have sung for decades, so I'm used to hearing it with an Irish accent rather than a Scottish accent.

That aerial shot of Phil on the mountain was breathtaking. I had no idea there was a point in the Alps where you could look down at 6 separate countries at the same time.

I'm still watching, and I'm sorry to see those two cops go again. I really don't like Akbar, the way he treats his wife is pretty terrible.
I'm having a hard time rooting for any of the teams yet; usually I can pick a team in the first few episodes, but I'm not sure I like any of these teams.

Yeah, it's a shame when a team tries so hard, but something goes wrong every time - some of it things beyond their control.

You're right - Akbar is a POS. He should have been praising his wife to the skies for attempting that mountain climb. As such things go, that one was a piece of cake compared to the ones they have in China (there are videos of people doing those), but it's still very dangerous and scary.

I'm starting to like the husband/wife team who get into the performance tasks (they're the ones with the social media channel). They don't abuse each other, they're not nasty to anyone else, and they're enthusiastic about the race.

Another non-elimination leg. This is one team I would like to be gone.

I'm actually surprised that only one person dropped a bottle on that insanely long stairway.

This season has an issue with the way the teams that came back turned out in that we got such a huge gap in talent between the top four teams and the other three teams, so there's not going to be that much suspense before the final 4 unless there's U turn drama.

I haven't seen yesterday's episode yet (have it recorded and intend to watch it tonight).

I wish they'd filled the empty slots with runners-up from previous seasons if that were possible, rather than giving second, third, and fourth chances to teams who are obviously not up to it.

Did anyone else notice an ad for Survivor starting up again in March?

Last night's episode made me want to :barf:because of that cheese. Even the promo was disgusting!
I agree that they need to stop with the non-elimination legs.
