^ I started to answer your post #257 this morning, DevilEyes, but some demon or other ate my reply. What I tried to say is that I like your definition of unsexy a lot: "Just generally impossible to relate to anything sexual." Popular opinion seems to hold that good looking=sex appeal and sex appeal=good looking, but that actually isn't the case, and Harry Kim, alas, is a perfect example of this.

I used to work with a guy like that - well, actually, he was worse than Harry, because whereas Harry was good looking and bland, Warren was good looking and annoying, but not annoying on purpose (nor was he as good looking as Garrett Wang). Anyway, lots of women/girls (not me - he did nothing for me from the moment I met him - probably a good thing since I was his supervisor) thought Warren was good looking right up until the moment he started talking. At that point, the sex appeal just oooooooozed away - it was an amazing thing to see, really. In contrast, I have known guys who were not good looking who just exuded sex appeal. It's a funny thing, sex appeal.

Anyway, I pretty much agree with your list. I might not put everybody in exactly the same order, and I don't think Harry would make my top (or bottom ;) ) 10, but Neelix would definitely be #1.

I also agree about TOS Chekov. He didn't do anything for me when I was in the demographic he was supposed to appeal to, either. I'll have to think about it to see if there's anybody I'd add.

Yuppers.

Phisicality is fine--but in the long run, I think personality is the primary factor of "sexyness"--or lack therof.

I...think a case could reasonably be made on whether Jadzia--or Seven, for that matter--is more
"phisically attractive" than Ezri...but "sexyness" is a matter of what you like in someone, on the romantic level....

Well, I voted for her. I certainly think she has more sex appeal than any of the other women on DS9 and I like all of them very much (especially the two Daxes).

I think Jadzia Dax and Seven of Nine are both more physically appealing and sexier than Ezri all the way around. Cute does not equal sexy for me, ever, and I don't find people who are neurotic and who lack confidence in themselves to be remotely sexy. Give me confident and curvy any day of the week.

You'd call Seven "confident," PSG? (Not going to argue with you on the "curvy" part ;) !) I wouldn't. I mean, she was confident in a few areas, but there were so many areas in which she was so very young and unsure (young for her age, I mean) that she doesn't fit my definition of a confident person - or at least she didn't on Voyager. It's one of the things that makes her interesting, IMO.

^Agreed. And as for Ezri, she certainly lacked self-confidence in the beginning--but, with assistance from Sisko (and, albeit unintentionally, from Garak), she quickly got on the right track, so that by the end of the episode, she is quite self-confident.

She still has a good deal of humility, yes, but that's part of her charm--she knows her limits, and isn't afraid to admit them, nor is she necessarily ashamed of them. And over the course of the season, we see her overcome many of these limits.

And...as for Ezri being "neurotic"? As I recall...it was Garak that was the neurotic (and Ezri helped him out of this, BTW)--but anyway...while Ezri is a little eccentric, I wouldn't go that far....

JustKate: I admit I didn't watch all of VOY, and I haven't rewatched eps. I could be remembering her incorrectly. I just recalled her having a very collected vibe. (Not to be confused with "collective".)

Rush Limborg: Having a phobia is not the same thing as being neurotic. I found Ezri's mannerisms to be neurotic and annoying. I know a lot of folks disagree with me. Different strokes for different folks, as they say, but she just never did a thing for me except annoy me.

Ezri ahead of Seven of Boring by 1 point. Come on Ezri fans, there's got to be enough of you out there who haven't voted yet to get her to 50 ;)

That's right, Geckothan--THE TIE IS BROKEN!

Ezri's in the lead, with 46 (Four votes away from the BIG ONE!!!).
Seven's in Second, with 45.
Jadzia--42....
T'Pol--41....
And Kira's still fifth, with 36.

All in all, the top five have held their positions.

On PSGarak's reply--I wasn't quite referring to Garak's phobia, per se--simply its getting out of hand, and it being channeled into an outlet for his guilt over "betraying" Cardassia--not to mention it so straining him as to cause him to lash out at Ezri....

By the way...say what you will about Ezri...you have to give her credit for the way she took the lashing. She stands there, keeping her calm, showing practically no reaction...waiting until she's alone to let out her pain....

A lesser person would have snapped back with a "THAT'S ENOUGH!", or something....

A lesser person would have snapped back with a "THAT'S ENOUGH!", or something....

I will give her credit for that, and I'm sure part of that was having enough of a sense of professionalism to be able to understand that no matter how personal it may have seemed, the tirade wasn't really about her. I don't think she was some useless waste of a character or anything that harsh. (For the record, I don't think Garak was sexy on his emotional roller coaster, so I'm not double standard-ing here.)

I just found her mannerisms annoying. I feel the same way about the entire cast of characters of Seinfeld and most shows that rely on people's neurotic quirks as a point of humor. That sort of stuff does nothing for me at all. My in-laws think I'm nuts for that. :shifty: I'm sure that's the only reason my in-laws thing I'm nuts.

I can see and understand on an intellectual level why some people do find her sexy. She's not Quasimodo. She's very cute, and even sometimes pretty depending on her make up. She just doesn't push my personal buttons. I also think the actress herself is much more physically attractive than the character she played. I know bupkis about her personality, so I can't speak to that.

I don't know if my opinion means anything since I am not bisexual, but then again I think I can say have enough bisexuality (?) in me (depending on your definition) to find another woman sexy, even though I've never been interested in having sex with other women. But anyway:

Generally, I rarely find "cute" people sexy, male or female. Jadzia and Ezri are both lovely, but I would give an edge to Jadzia. However, I always found Kira much hotter than either of the Daxes. (Leeta looked great, but she was too ditzy.) She'd be my #1 pick for the women, with the original Uhura a close second. Nichelle Nichols was a knockout, stunning and curvy and with an amazing presence, even though she hardly ever got interesting lines. The new Uhura is quite close, and I have to say I find Zoe Saldana a lot more attractive as Uhura than I do as herself. Deanna Troi was beautiful, and I used to girlcrush on her as a little girl, but now... she is just not all that hot, really, due to her personality and the way she talks and everything. Out of the guest stars, The Romulan Commander was not one of the most beautiful women in TOS, but she had a presence and sensuality about her that make her one of the hottest. (The most beautiful would probably be Zarabeth, Vina, Andrea, T'Pring and Kelinda - yeah, I forgot to put her in the poll). K'Ehleyr is the only Klingon I find attractive (B'Elanna is OK, but not that good of a character, and Grilka was not so bad), and Sakonna and Selar made the most attractive Vulcans (and T'Pring, but her coldness is off-putting). Kes is one of those characters that are very pretty but that I would not call hot, and I need to watch more of VOY episodes featuring Seven of Nine to be able to give a definite judgment on her. From what I've seen, she does not have what I'd call a beautiful face, but that is compensated for by her curviness and an interesting ice-queen/outsider learning about humanity persona that may be off-putting to some but very appealing to others. And finally, talking about the Borgs - Alice Krige is a very beautiful and lovely woman, but the Borg Queen - ugh, no.

^I...don't think we want to know....

Anyhow...Ezri and Seven are tied again--46-46.

(C'mon, people--just FOUR VOTES AWAY!!! WE CAN DO THIS! Just STAY...THE...COURSE!!!)

Jadzia's still in third--43,

T'Pol, still fourth--41,

And...Kira, still fifth, 36.

At places 6 and 7, we have two males for a change - the two Spocks. NuSpock is again ahead of Prime Spock by 1 vote - 32 and 31.

At 8 - Leeta with 28 votes.

At 9 - Hoshi Sato with 26.

At 10 - Trip with 25.

Just outside top 10: Bashir with 24 votes, and Deanna Troi with 23.
