I'm looking forward to the unnamed Death Watch Mandalorian which is supposed to be released next month. They need to do a Vintage Collection Paz Vizsla.

I don't have Disney+ and have never seen The Mandalorian. But just looking at those video thumbnails... does anyone else think he looks a little bit like Justin Trudeau? :wtf:

It’s not a bad sculpt, it does kinda look like Trudeau. Pedro Pascal’s face seems more square then Trudeau’s.7BCBE8BC-8CE0-4B23-927E-BF48F54777AE.jpeg

Some of S.H. Figuarts' face sculpts knock it out of the park. But in the last year or so they have also had some figures where the likeness to the actor isn't so great. Jane Foster from the new Thor movie, for instance.

I'm kind of surprised the Kenner figures aren't a little closer in their likeness to Pedro Pascal. I thought they've been using some kind of fancy scanning tech for their newer figures. The face seems a little too wide and the nose is flatter.

The proportions of the Black Series 6" Din Djarin's face were a pretty vocal issue with collectors who noted that it made his nose look too big and his face looked too puffy. Hasbro does use a lot of 3-D scanning of actors and Real Photo technology for the head sculpts on human characters but due to limitations of budget and scale sometimes falls short.

And it looks like they did a better face sculpt for the upcoming Din Djarin Morak Disguise figure: https://www.mephitsu.co.uk/post/sta...ion-din-djarin-morak-disguise-the-mandalorian

My understanding of Kenner/Hasbro's Real Photo tech is that it doesn't directly scan the actor's head in 3D, but instead it starts with 2D photos of the actor from different angles, and uses those to put together a 3D model. And then an artist still has to do detailing and coloring, and also tweaking to accentuate certain features in the small scale.

Regarding a different character... the upcoming Krrsantan Black Series figure seems kind of low-effort, IMO.

There is something still odd about that head. But, I'm not getting that figure for the head sculpt but the uniform for army builders.

I do like that they made the helmet as an actual hollow helmet to fit over the character's head, instead of as a completely separate head to switch out like other recent figures. Though I understand it makes sense to do the helmet as a separate head if the character's hairdo in its plastic form wouldn't fit into a properly scaled helmet, such as Bo-Katan and the previous Mando figure with longer hair.
