The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

AND a friend on social media just shared that some GameStops are marking down their exclusive 6" Snoke figure with the throne from $39.99 to $31.99, which is a much more reasonable price for just one 6-inch figure with one accessory, even if it is a large one. At the end of the day it's just a piece of molded grey plastic with a few painted highlights on it and not even that much detailing. The figure should have been closer to $30 to begin with.

Fucking hell the toyline is really in its death throes in Japan if they are trying to squeeze every last yen from the dwindling fanbase with these novelty exclusives that are probably only getting sold on the online webstore.

Two sides to that freshly squeezed goodness - the company making this stuff has to keep net profit in mind while balancing licensing costs, manufacture costs (the mold, the plastic goo, paint jobs on the plastic as applicable, etc). Smaller fanbase or reduction in raw materials means inevitable price hike.

Granted, my Q and Peri figures get the least amount of non-use when I do my crossover playtime not-unlike what this guy does:

(Seriously, crossovers are cool.)

Hehe that is a funny movie.

Nothing new to report but I got random and decided to recreate this famous still of Balok.

If that's the Playmates set, I have that, too! :D

Nice lighting. :)

Yes it's the playmates set. Starting next year I may start collecting the rest of the Playmates Original Series figures. I have a few of them already.

WNMHGB Kirk with Shuttlecraft.
Harry Mudd.
Edith Keeler.
The Gorn.
Kirk with belt.
Balok.
Balok Puppet.
Talosian.

And I think that's all I have so far.

I kinda want the shuttle, but only sort of. I have the original crew bridge set (removed from package), Christine Chapel, and Janice Rand, and a BUNCH of random TNG characters (some of which, as demonstrated earlier in this thread, are locked in my cat's bed box).

The new wave of Black Series 6" figures that features Rose, Supreme Leader Snoke and Jaina Solo from the old EU is starting to surface at big box retail. I have yet to see the new figures myself but store reports have been coming in of collectors managing to score the new wave assortment or at least see one figure from it, so if you need these be sure to hit your local retailers!
I saw a Jaina figure at Wal-Mart the other day. Seems to be the chase figure, I already had two so I made sure my friend got it.

Top form, my friend. You're a good woman. Yeah, she's definitely the chase figure as there are just three new characters in this wave assortment and Rose or Snoke or both tend to be the ones that people find after the local collectors and scalpers get their shot at the pegs. I won't expect to see her in the wild but if I do - she's mine! ;)

A woman is doing custom and Arya dolls for me. She is using a Bratz doll for Arya, I am not sure the doll she is using for Gendry.

She has sent me photos of the clothes she made for Arya and the hammer she made from Gendry. Arya's needle is a bit too thick but I doubt it cane be made much thinner using polymer clay.

I think I might ask her to do a Missandei doll as well.

Since 2017 is coming to a close, is their anything any of you are wanting or expecting toy wise out of 2018?

For me, I'm hoping since Jakks are reducing the size of their World of Nintendo waves from 5 to 3, I hope they put the waves out quickly since only two waves were released this year and both waves were announced back in 2016.

Aside from that I'm curious to see what MacFarlane will do with their Star Trek licence. They've already announced Kirk, Picard, Burnham and T'Kuvma so I'm hoping to see who else they will announce next year. Other than that I hope action figure playsets make a huge comeback.

How about you guys? What are your 2018 hopes and dreams?

I'm going to sound like a broken record with no sound here, but I'm hoping to come out with my own line of stuff. I now have the means and motivation. I'm looking into an EDM for molds and injection molding machine.

I'm with you. I'd love to make my own stuff if I had the means. I'd love to 3D Print all the pieces to make a TOS Enterprise bridge diorama.

After an absence from store shelves of nearly five years the Vintage Collection is returning to the 3.75" Star Wars action figure line in 2018. Super-articulated 3.75-inch figures will no longer just be Walmart exclusives. The fans and collectors are finally getting our wish. After a five-year absence Vintage figures are returning and I cannot wait to see them again. :)
