The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Hey where did you find the tiny roulette wheel?
My brother has this, it is a small travel game with which you can really play. He does not remember where he bought it, sorry!

I saw the playmobil figures you guys use but which ones have the rock band and musical instruments?
You can also look online for "dollhouse miniatures music instruments". It does not have to be Playmobil instruments.

The Big Chief Studios (1:6 scale) TARDIS has landed and it's beautiful. I'm very happy I got it even though the box is huge and I have not decided yet how to display or store it exactly.

Told you that box was huge!

It was well wrapped:

I ordered early enough to get the pyjamas and slippers. Rose will come with the robe and Jack with the satsuma and sword I believe. With the Ninth Doctor we get a Tenth Doctor smiling head, and with all that we can put together another figure!

The phone is extra, it connects to the door via magnets:

We also get a background sheet:

Without it, the inside would look like this:

Yeah, that's better!

Finally, if you put batteries into the roof, it lights up! One push of the button lights the roof lamp permanently, a second push lets it change, like when he is taking off.

I'm very happy with my purchase!

Oh that's fine then I might do that but I thought the speakers were in playmobil as I wanted to buy a few and make a big speaker stack. for a background.

As for speakers, I plan to buy one of those stages with Lorne from Angel:

I just can't decide which one - may take all three LOL

Just some random pictures with my new TARDIS:

- Knock knock.
- Who's there?
- The Doctor.
- Doctor Who?

This new night guard security job isn't working out. It's too creepy. ;)

Astra, you achieved some very impressive photos of your Big Chief TARDIS. Your mood lighting showcasing the illumination features is quite striking!

I managed only one decent image and even this one I had to run through a photo editor to improve it best I could. This is actually the Capaldi box with the white window frames, the translucent phone cupboard door and the St. John's emblem (blocked by the Doctor in this shot).

Sincerely,

Bill

Thank you! Although it feels undeserved as I really did nothing special. the only thing I did (and probably should have done years ago) was recently getting a new camera, a Sony. Very small, a pocket camera, but it does great pictures in the dark. I now cringe when looking at the pics I took with my old camera.

But I don't do any settings, I only use the automatic setting.

I also had to wait until it was really dark outside, which takes long these days! I did a shot while it was still daylight and you couldn't see the inner lighting at all.

Did you use flash? Somehow it looks like it. Try one without, it will become much more moody! Good luck!

Also, isn't it a great piece of work? I'm really happy about mine. I'm quite sad they got so many complaints about faulty ones.

At the time I snapped my photos, without the flash the camera registered almost nothing. I too wanted a shot highlighting the lighting effects, but it turned out (raspberry sound). So I settled for a flash that at least clearly displayed the police box and the Doctor (sporting the BC replacement head and a more accurate scarf a member of Gallifrey Base once offered).

Sincerely,

Bill

How about some indirect lighting then? Flash is really harsh. What I often do when shooting scenes in the dark, I lit them with electric Christmas decoration candles. Seriously. It provides some light, but it is nice and warm and moody:

Or you could even try going further away, and focussung at some place next to the TARDIS which then will be hit by the Flash. Then you cut out the part of the picture later.

Some more of my stuff. Starting with some Star Wars figures in Lego

3 badass women ..... Wraith Queen, Elizabeth from Bioshock, and Victoria the only vampire in Twilight I like. Elizabeth's eyes look really strange when you hold the figure.... Stark puples against this really weird iris colour.

The TARDIS and her living body Idris, and an apple.

And a 3D car puzzle. I am getting a few of these and they don't come with proper instructions, just a parts layout on the back of the box but I did it without looking at that for clues. Took a few hours.. I will be filing down some of these pieces for a flusher fit, as there's a few gaps but despite this I am quite bloody happy with this...

Ooh, seeing that Wraith Queen reminds me I probably should post my Space cup pictures! I did them two years ago for the Soccer World Cup. Now we have the European Championsships and I had a Space Cup. Aliens against Earth. It was great fun ;) I'll start tomorrow.

Today something Star Trek related - another Mega Bloks set has arrived. The Guardian of Forever from the episode "City on the edge of Forever"

With this set we get Kirk in yellow (even though every real Star Trek fan knows of course that this was always avocado green) and McCoy and two unnamed redshirts. If I remember correctly, they don't die for a change in this episode.

It's only a small set so the box was significantly smaller than the bridge set and transporter room set. It was also easier to open, as it only had tape, while the other was glued together:

You even have to put the tricorder together yourself LOL But they got lazy here. In the bridge set, the tricorder and communicator and phasers actually were painted. Guess I'll have to get out my golden and silver sharpie:

The figures. I must admit I can't really recognize Bones here:

It's an easy built set but still beautifully done:

And some scene recreation:

I was at Target today and wanted to get a Hank toy from Finding Dory. Unfortunately a lot of the toys were pillaged already and didn't have much to choose from. I found this, which is okay. May try to find something smaller some point when I go to the Disney Store.

We need Mega Bloks Edith Keeler

It's story time boys and girls.

A little over 2 years ago I was reading about Five Below stores so I did a google map search of my area and found nothing, a barren wasteland. Jump ahead to a few weeks ago and I decided to look again. Now I had a dozen stores including one right down I 45. I went there found a couple of figures, and learned they were opening a store right around the corner from me. I waited patiently for it to open and checked it out. All they had of any interest to me were the Playmation Disney Avengers figures, but they were $5. Everyone else still had them for $14.95. I decided to get a MODOK, but when I went back, they were out of him. I went to the Walmart on Fairmont and asked when they were going to put them on clearance. I got the deer in the headlights look and "We only do what we are told." from the department manager. So yesterday I did another search and found another Five Below close by, on Wallisville. I went there today but they don't open until the 8th, so I went to the Walmart across the street, which I don't get to check very often. They had 6 pegs full of these figures, including a full peg of MODOK and they were ALL $5!

I have to give credit to the Wallisville Walmart, Good Job, and for the Fairmont Walmart...FAIL!

CCC.

Before they can play, the aliens have to learn the rules for the soccer game:

Commercial time:

And this is the Earth team:
