The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

I found and bought the new Darth Vader and Ahsoka 2-pack based on Rebels the other night. My local Target had just stocked a case assortment of the newest 2-packs and they had all of them except for the BB-8 and Unkar's Thugs set, so I made sure to grab Vader and Ahsoka while they were still on the pegs. Most of the rest were easy passes since they were just straight repacks of existing Saga Legends and Rebels figures I already have.

Want ....

That Millennium Falcon could be heaps of fun but not sure about the X Wings..

I have a Cameo Miss Peeps doll on the way! I came across her on EBay over the weekend and snatched her up. I had her growing up but she got broken and couldn't be fixed. I'm so happy to have found a replacement after all these years.

I'm getting ready for Christmas decorating (seven weeks before Thanksgiving!), so I'm finding stuff for my dolls. This was on clearance at American Girl:

It will look so cute on my new doll.

Yay! A thread after my own heart! It will take a while to read all 470 pages.

Aside from Star Trek which is my newest addition I also have figures / pictures of Stargate, Arrow, Doctor Who, Torchwood and Sherlock

I know you guys like to photograph your collections standing around on a shelf, but I'm a girl, I like to play. I wasn't sure at first whether you would enjoy my pictures, but CaptainMurdock's Pizza place, which I love, and Kira'sMummy's dolls (adorable!) have encouraged me to share some of mine. I try to be brief and not spam too much, so just a few examples.

Just recently I watched "Generations" for the first time and it inspired me to this:

Or here's the famous bow and arrow scene from "Friday's Child".

Or Kirk and Spock playing 3D chess (I made it)

I also made this:

I picked up the Anakin Elite Series Die Cast figure from the Disney Store yesterday. I originally was not intending too. The figure came out on Monday and I figured that it would be all sold out. I just happen to be at the mall and wondered through the store and they had one left. I don't think the likeness is all that great but why not.

Excellent photos @Astra, thank you for sharing.:)
Thank you very much, glad you liked them! I really love your pictures. Great toys. I know Re-ment but this is the first I have heard of Miworld - must investigate!

Here's one more I recently did. In the Motion Picture audio comment they talk about a not filmed scene where McCoy was supposed to be in some park treating wild cats and Kirk went to get him back. So naturally I had to create this:

(that little white stool is actually one of the things you get with a pizza for holding the lid up)

(And that cage is a fruit basket from the supermarket)

McCoy did have that feral look to him when he beams aboard the Enterprise in TMP. I could see him doing that. :)

Thank you. And thanks for telling me about Re-ment. I love miniatures and that little IV hook you have is simply beautiful. I need to get back to making Star Trek mini comics. :D

Great pictures too. Can't wait to see more.:techman:

Loved the photos here too...

How did you do all the stuff on the desk? Where do you get a teeny tiny microscope?

I know this isn't directed at me but I gotta chip in. :)

I just bought one on Ebay for $7.99. I looked under Re-ment miniatures.

It will go great with my Gardner's Lab inspired by Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon. My lab stuff was from a Sylvanian Families schoolmaster's accessories set.

He looks constipated!

No wonder he fell to the Dark Side so easily and became so evil. Constipation does things to a person.

He did, didn't he? That beard LOL

I wanted to say thank you very much for opening this thread so many years ago. I really am reading through all the old posts and enjoy the pictures massively. Also it is nice to learn about other figures and fandoms. Always good to expand your horizon.

Thank you. And thanks for telling me about Re-ment.
Happy you put the new knowledge to such quick use ;)

Please do! I'm sure they will be awesome. So many creative people in this world, I am always happy to find more!
Turns out, I loved miniatures all my life, way before I started with action figures. I had a shelf full with tiny adorable stuff.

I do prefer realistic looking stuff though, so while the MiWorld and Re-ment are cute in their way and totally fit your Mario brothers, they are a bit too colorful and would clash with my style. I found a page yesterday though where someone had sat their Doctor Who figures into the shops and they fit perfectly in size.

Your Sylvanian family stuff is cute too, but mostly too small for my figure size. I also do repainting of too pink Barbie stuff. It makes a difference.

I saw your leglamp in an old post. Now THAT is special! Loved it!

As for the IV stand, please see my answer to Coco Pops. I just want to add - I also would have had tiny x-rays but then thought they may not use them anymore in the future...

I don't remember exactly where the microscope came from. It's possible it was among some stuff someone who enjoyed my pictures sent to me as he thought I could use it. Apparently I have become a sanctuary for not anymore wanted action figures as well!

Mostly I search for "dollhouse miniatures" at ebay or in online shops. It is a whole world. These are no toys, these are handmade miniatures for adults who like to decorate dollhouses. It is a bit harder to find modern stuff as most seems to be for Victorian times, but you can also get a lot of doctor or drugstore/pharmacy stuff. Basically, there is nothing from the real world that does not exist in miniature. Some, like furniture, are quite expensive though.

That desk itself is also awesome, the hood can actually be opened and closed, and the drawers too. So cool.

Some of the things on my desk were borrowed from the "Stargate" figures - the skull, the open book, the tablet that is not TOS (and it turns out now that I laid the TOS tabled the wrong way around, it should have the buttons on top - d'oh!), the ZPM (crystal). The other books came with "Buffy" figures. Sometimes the accessories are the only reason why I buy figures. I never watched "Primeval" but their computer stands are awesome!

Often I would see some accessory in a picture by someone else and ask how to get it. Mulder and Scully come with great stretchers for example.

Great pictures too. Can't wait to see more.:techman:
Thank you! There's lots more where that came from. I really am afraid of spamming if I post too much at once though. Be careful to open the flood gate ;) Here just a quick one, Doctors Ten and Eleven like to play with action figures as well! (These figures are the 1:6 scale Big Chief Studios ones and they are awesome in their likeness. I also have their Sherlock line)

Sorry for the bad picture quality. I have bought a new camera now.

I started with collecting action figures too. I ended up sorting all the little accessories over the years and keep them all in nice segmented containers like a propmaster. I collect anything that interests me whether I need it or not.

As for me, I've mainly been collecting Nintendo/videogame figures as of late so I have a fine mix of realistic and cartoony though I love it all. I recently discovered Sylvanian Families/Calico Critters and fell in love instantly. I love the little accessories and minitures they have. Heck I bought one of their starter dollhouses and painted the roof and window's to look like Luigi's house as seen in the intro to Luigi's Mansion 2. And even better it's in scale with my nintendo figures. I couldn't be happier.

And for the leg lamp thanks, That's a christmas ornament I picked up last christmas. I love "A Christmas Story." so much that I couldn't resist getting it. Here's another picture of it.

And don't feel afraid about spamming. I'm sure nobody will mind a big helping of your photos. Heck I'll show off some more of mine to break the ice. :)

Hi I'm Bob McKenzie and this is my brother Doug. Good day aye!

And now for something completely different!
Something I whipped up for Halloween. Boy this Incredibles Deleted scene is scary...

And finally, my miniature multi-purpose lab made from various action figure accessories and stuff I had lying around in my junk box. I used tap lights and mini finger ring lights for the lighting and glowing effects. Practical effects on a miniature scale.
