The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Cool poster and figures! I like the original 1977 poster art for the very first movie. :)

Thanks! I'm not much for being in photos, but being surrounded by Star Wars is a good thing. I would have loved to have visited the creature workshop when they were making these films.

The poster was something I found at a flea market for $25.. its all wood, and a bit dirty, but I had to have it.

Barnes & Noble is also a good place to check for 6" Black Series figures if you're missing some of them. I've seen the Deluxe sets (Jabba and the Biker Scout with Speeder Bike) carried there and far more rare and sought-after figures like Boba Fett have also surfaced on their toy and collectible shelves. They may have nothing more than the figures you already have or don't want, but you never know.

Today's flea market findings.

I don't know which line the R2-D2 is form but at six inches tall, he is perfect for a desk. You can turn his head r retract the middle foot. I scored him for $4. It was originally more but I was wearing a Star Wars shirt.

New rule: always wear a shirt of whet you are interested in when going to a flea market.. it might help to score a deal.

I have a green version of that R2 unit (R2-A6) from the Episode I line. It's six inches tall too with the same kind of moveable features.

That's one of the 12"-scale figures of R2-D2 released in the late '90s under the "Action Collection" banner. They had two different ones, not counting the one that came with the 12" Slave Leia figure and, I believe, Jabba's Sail Barge accessories.

One mold had no plug-in tools or arms and the second release came with them. They plug into opening hatches on Artoo's body.

got these two today. Dr Strange has those rubbery legs that make it almost impossible for him to stand on his own. Iron Man is good though. i always liked the black and gold suit.

If you thought Hot Toys topped themselves when they revealed their scaled to the figures (1/6) TIE Fighter and Millennium Falcon cockpit...

They have just announced that they have made THE ENTIRE MILLENNIUM FALCON (same scale!), and will have it on display at Ani-Com and Games Hong Kong, which starts on the 24th. At 1/6 scale, it will be 18 feet long! Good lord... I imagine that has to be a record, not counting the full-size ship they use for filming.

Now, there's no word yet whether this is something that they will actually be selling to the public, or if it's just a one-off they are making just for display at events. Though I honestly can't imagine they'd be actually selling this.

If they did hypothetically decide to sell it, the price (plus the crazy shipping cost, of course) would be beyond obscene. And of course there's the matter of where exactly one would put such a thing.

Well, that's one ultra-cool collectible I know I won't be getting even if I could remotely afford it. Few toys scream "rich man's hobby" or "build an addition onto the garage" more than this one, but man, is it ever a gorgeous-looking and startlingly accurate item!

Unbelievable! And I thought people were crazy for making dollhouses for American Girls.

I'm not kidding- look at this one:

That costs $2500. I don't even want to think about what the Millennium Falcon would cost!

Even expensive restaurant patrons on the Upper West Side of Manhattan would do double-takes at that price.

That six inch R2-D2 (12 inch scale) actually isn't a cheap or common item. I think I scored getting it for $4 at that flea market.

He is really good company for me when I'm writing!

Yeah, and I can see him easier than if I bought the Black Series 3 inch (6 inch scale) version.. which, although it has accessories and is probably awesome, it's quite pricey.

Seeing it at the flea market, I almost didn't get him. Most people that sell large SW toys at flea markets have the "kiddie" versions of the characters, where the proportions are off (big head, funny poses) and it took me a minute to study R2 and realize that he was actually a very good replica.

I'm very pleased.

A few years ago Games Workshop made several to scale Thunderhawk Gunships for 40K. It was 19 inches by 17 inches by 8 inches, made for 30mm figures, about the same size as Heroclix figures. It is still available from Forgeworld. For 30mm, that was a monster.

CCC.

My next project is under way- a mini room that's the right size for the mini American Girl dolls.

It's going to be a mini bakery/cafe. I ordered these two pieces from Etsy to use in it.
