The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Scored some vintage DS9 figures. The Sisko is odd-man-out in terms of the time period, but I'm not complaning too hard. :)

Sweet. Loved the old 90s Playmates figures, some of my very first action figures (TNG, though, I didn't like DS9 as a kid). One thing that caught my eye immediately, though, was the out-of-scale Nog. I mean, we all know he was smaller than the others, but that is ridiculous. Guessing he wasn't his own figure, but came as a bonus with Rom?!

That is correct; he was an accessory that came with Rom. No articulation, either. The "Fistful of Datas" cowboy Worf came with a similar small non-articulated figure of Alexander as an accessory. He's almost a head shorter than he should be, in proportion to Worf.

Someday I'll get around to completing the collection of DS9 figures. I only have a few. It's a dream project to one day put together a diorama/playset of Ops.

I have a ton of the '90s Playmates figures, I asked my mom how many and she said probably around 30-40. I think I have pretty much every regular character from TNG-VOY (accept maybe 7of9, I'm not sure if I have her), and a lot of the major recurring characters like Nog, Rom, Quark, Luwaxana Troi, Q, ect. And I have a lot of different versions of the same characters, like the series and Generations versions of the TNG cast, Worf in his Klingon uniform from Redemption and the transformed Geordi from Identity Crisis. I also have the transporter, shuttlecraft, and Enterpride-D bridge. And we also have a huge ziplock back with all of the accessories, but I'm not sure who most of them go with.

Well, if you ever need help organizing I can spot most accessories. It fills in the gaps left by not remembering algebra.

Also, went to Target last night and got Migs Mayfeld for 7.49. With tax here it came out to 7.94 which made my head hurt.

I went on a small binge and bought some transformers. Starscream as an F22 Raptor, Galvatron as a Freightliner, and a Corvette named Sideswipe. They are all pretty neat and have a lot of details that they just couldn't do in small sizes back in 2007 when they came back into being somewhat popular. Anyway picture below.

One caveat is they are really not as strong as the older ones and transforming them more then once or twice stresses the joints and hinges so I won't be doing much of that with these if at all as even turning them into vehicles felt a bit scary and like I would break something.

EDIT: I decided to do them all one more time in robot mode for another photo but I was right about the joints and connections, undoing them felt a bit more stressful then having them in vehicle mode. I don't think these are meant to go through many rotations before things go snap and pop, they did not feel very secure.

That’s really sweet! Love the woodwork!
Indeed, well done @Astra
Thank you guys!

I can't take any credit for the background though. I don't know if you have heard of https://extreme-sets.com/ ?

Check out their page, they're awesome. These are just printed cardboard pieces that you can arrange in any way you please, plus added columns, staircase, or chairs and tables at the bar, which you have to fold up. I wish I had this special mansion set back when I was doing pictures in the "Gotham" fandom. They only had one available at the time were the wallpaper was destroyed and there were graffiti etc. to make it look like a lost place.

There are many others like a street with graffiti, a Batman cave, sewers for Turtles figures, a subway station and a subway waggon, a police station, a bank... you get the picture. Or an abandoned asylum which I also have.

The street:

And this is the bar:

Hey I like these two in the corner. What figures were they or did you make those with the clothes and all?

Happy to help!

So the guy is Jim Gordon from the Diamond Select Toys "Gotham" line. Check it out, some awesome figures and accessories there! In fact, I saw the figures first and then became a fan of the show. That often happens. He comes with one half for this balcony set.

The woman is Barbara Gordon, his wife in the beginning of the series, but I am afraid you can't buy her like that. She originally comes in a stripey prison dress (she went a bit bad, sorry, spoilers ;) )

I did cut off the long skirt and added some sandals to her bare feet with Milliput, and repainted her.

Also are these made up figures or ones you can buy, I like the old fashioned look.

That's why I bought them, I like the old fashioned look as well!

The girl is Ofelia from the movie "Pan's labyrinth" if you have seen that - one of those Fantasy Guillermo del Toro movies with Doug Jones in weird creature costumes. This figure series is done by Neca. She comes with the book and some more accessories for the movie.

And Anthony Hopkins is from the Diamond Select Toys "Westworld" series. There are some Western style figures in that as well, men and women which are also awesome. He comes with the dog:

Ofelia looks awesome as does Barbara Gordon, your after shot looks way better then the before shot so yeah glad you changed that terrible dress. I love the look of all these figures. With the Westworld stuff are you getting more of the cast?

The Metropolis figure…that must have a story

The line is called "Silent Screamers" by Mezco. There are others like Jekyll/Hyde, Dr. Caligari etc. Check it out!
Maria is one of those figures that look cool and I HAD to have it but sadly not many ideas what to do with it. If you have any wishes/inspiration, please let me know!

Thank you! I already have gotten more Westworld figures, just need to take proper pictures for you yet.
Another show where I bought figures but never watched it... Both with "Gotham" and "Stranger Things" I had the figures first, then fell in love with the show. I did watch the "Westworld" pilot, but it did not grab me enough to continue. The figures are gorgeous though.

Right now I have become obsessed with "The Walking Dead"... I bought 12" Rick Grimes since I like a man in an uniform and especially a sheriff, and THEN started to watch the show. And to my own surprise, I actually like it!

Some 7" figures had to come in as well.
