The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

I didn’t ship them during the shows’ run; the subsequent books brought me around to it. This is very cute. I like to think about them getting to go on holiday together after their return. :adore:

I was a casual watcher of the show. I had not planned to get involved. I just wanted to educate myself about plots and characters since there is so much talk about it everywhere.

I totally failed to notice all the small touches and close standings and looking at each other. I don't see shippyness if I am not pointed right at it.

Then the episode "Resolutions" came around. I figured, this one must have sparked lots of fanfictions (it did!). So I started to read, then write, and re-watch everything from the beginning with shipper eyes.
Can't wait to be finished and delve into the books!

About time that I showed you the Playmates Beaming Bones! With light and sound! I already used him in my story with Tuvok in sickbay and everyone asked me how I did the beaming effect. I did do nothing, he came like that!

I also did a video:

A simple but clever idea by PlayMates Toys. Cast all the pieces (except the head) in a tinted transparent plastic with glitter stirred into the mixture. Then have the employees (or robots?) paint the upper torso, the shoulders and part of the upper arm segments opaque in the colors of the uniform. Finally package the figure with a stand modeled as a transporter pad that illuminates and plays a beaming sound effect. Though I didn't purchase any of those "special edition" figures, I always admired the concept and the execution. If they were done today, they'd no doubt use super bright LEDs. In the 90s, they still installed incandescent bulbs, depending on space, usually a "grain of wheat" variety.

I have not read all the Voyager books, I like the Golden and Beyer books; basically the relaunch onwards. The transporter effect figures are very clever!

Just looked at it closely - they used a blue joint for the elbow joint, they should have used a clear plastic one for that as well. It totally destroys the otherwise great illusion.
I just remembered, that I also have a holographic 5" Tenth Doctor! I should do a story with these two.

Yesterday a friend of mine did a wonderful picture with Tom Paris and a car. You can see it here for comparison.

I felt challenged.
So here are Tom and B'Elanna going for a ride. This is the Last Action Hero car and therefore can do stunt driving on just two wheels! Who-hoooo!

They're cute together!

In addition to yesterday's car trip also this happened. The reason is that trunk/boot means "Kofferraum" in German which translates to "suitcase room" and therefore it needs suitcases in it! Sorry for the clichés ;)

A long line was formed to help B'Elanna with all the suitcases and bags.

Did not know that about the “boot!” We call it a trunk - perhaps because steamer trunks would go in there?

I’ve learned to pack more lightly when traveling but B’Elanna’s problem looks familiar! Though as an engineer I imagine she won’t have any problem Tetris-ing them all into the car!

A new COVID-19 related outfit for the American Girls.

I put it on Isobel because she's been my hospital companion through two years of surgery and chemotherapy. If I ever have another hospital stay, she's going with me in this outfit!

Very appropriate outfit!
Oh, is that why you haven't been here for a while? Very sorry to hear that but I'm glad you're feeling better. Welcome back!

So, have you flipped your mattress recently? This tweet reminded me of it yesterday: https://twitter.com/1940sJimTurner/status/1288111369401688064

So, my Scottish couple had to flip their mattress as well. It's not an easy task when you are not as young as you used to be but together they managed.

Wonderful! I hope you won’t have to though.

Even though that’s adorable it makes me feel badly family wasn’t available to help.

Aw. You make this more meta (with the current situation) than I had intended to.

I got a wonderful bathroom including shower from a friend and so yesterday started to lay tiles for it. As it is hard work I got help from Xander. I bought him ages ago, I knew he would come in handy one day!

The tiles are just cardboard and the red are magazine pages I kept ages ago as I liked the color.

Then someone on Twitter suggested that Chakotay also helps with the tiling. I think that is an excellent idea and Kathryn thinks so too ;) Here he is doing the ground tiles.

This week's scores at my local Target! :)

We were watching the Han Solo movie and it made me wonder why the droids get all the best dialogue! Listening to K 2SO and L3 are like having my internal monologue turned up to “audible!”

These are so clever and cool! “I’m a First Officer not a bricklayer! I’m a First Officer not an escalator! I’m a First Officer not a-“

What $400 gets you with the new Vintage Collection Millennium Falcon based on Galaxy's Edge:

Does the Star Wars fandom get all het up over the Falcon like Trekkies get over the Enterprise versions? I honestly don’t look at the ships too often but it seems like show runners SW show runners stick with the same version so it shouldn’t.
