The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

just got back. went to Walmart. my buddy who was driving didn't feel like traveling an extra hour to the nearest Toys R Us. there were maybe a dozen people waiting to get stuff.

I didn't go to my local Force Friday events tonight. I'm waiting until later today and this weekend, in large part because a close friend is coming to town, he also collects and wants to hit the stores with me to pick up some of the figures.

Congrats on your cool finds and scores, Tom! My own Target was still getting ready for the weekend when I stopped in there yesterday and wasn't even close to being finished, but they might not be opening at Midnight for this toy launch. They'll probably work all night getting the aisle finished and stocked for opening at regular business hours in the morning.

I went to Force Friday at TrU and though I was only about the tenth person in line, there were very few six inch Kylo Rens so I didn't get any. Nor did I see a BB-8 toy (aside form plushes) or Kylo's Force FX lightsaber.

I got the following in 3.75 inch: Kylo Ren, First Order Storm Trooper, and First Order Flame Trooper. I also got $5 First Order Special Forces TIE fighter. In addition I picked up a First Order STormtrooper Nerf gun and Kylo Ren's "flick" saber (where you flick it and it expands) for my nephew who's birthday is today.
I put some of my things in my Star Wars corner:

I also got Chewie! He is awesome.. you pressa button and he screams and complains and shakes his head and opens his mouth and growls!

I'll be going to Wall Mart sometime on the weekend hopefully...the only place doing Force Friday around me was TRU and that was too far away and I won't have any money.

I plan on getting the Black Series Kylo Ren if I can and Finn as I mentioned a few pages ago now.

The Elite Series Rey is the version of her I'll be getting...and those Figarts are just stunning...the Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi especially is impressive.

You picked some of the best of the new 3.75" figures. Congrats on your scores, man!

Hey, were you aware that Walmart and TRU are both getting exclusive, super-articulated 3.75" figure lines? Walmart with Black Series figures in small window boxes and TRU getting Vintage Collection-style figures in clamshell packaging?

Check out the details:

Nice, I'll definitely look for them when they come out.

Tried one nearby Walmart.

Sold out of pretty much all but a handful of TFA 3.75-inch figures by 6AM. Most of the Black 6-inch figures gone as well.

There's even a Wave 2 of 6-inch figures that some stores are carrying today. Poe Dameron, Constable Zuvio and a Guavian Enforcer. Some collectors found those figures and posted pics and their store reports online. Not all stores bothered to stock Wave 2, but it might be worth checking to see if they have anything beyond the first five characters.

So went to the Disney Store today and picked up a few more things.

I got the BB-8 and can't wait to break him out of the packaging.

Ian and Aaron were able to pick out something they wanted, Ian got the Die Cast First Order Tie Fighter and Aaron picked up the Die Cast Stormtrooper.

I picked up the 3 of the Die Cast Elite Series figures. They are beautiful in person and really heavy. Of course the Captain Phasma was sold out, think that is the going to be the most popular figure.

Here is a closeup on Rey and BB-8. Rey comes off a little angry but she is beautifully painted.

Is Sphero's BB-8 as good as the promo video? Considering picking him up.

Didn't got to any MM but did manage to pick up 6 inch Kylo on my travels today. I only want him, Rey and the Mission Series BB-8 so I'm a third of the way there.

Tom posts the best and most fun pics of kids and their Star Wars toys. Those are great shots and it's always great to see modern children loving Star Wars as much as we did back when we were little! :)

I noticed there seem to be official Micro Machines again, though it also seemed to me like the quality isn't quite on the same level it was years ago and some of the ships even looked a tad smaller. It's also interesting that the modern ships apparently lack stands but still have the peg holes on the bottom.

Collectors, kids and scalpers picked most of the pegs and shelves clean in my area on Friday, but I did score some cool stuff that I wanted and I'm planning on getting a few more figures later today. The most popular of the new characters were predictably scarce or nowhere to be found in local stores, but I did get most of the 3.75" TFA figures I'd been wanting and picked up the Black Series Clone Commander Doom that had been eluding me. An employee at my local GameStop held him for me so I'm very grateful that they remembered which figure I was still missing and were thoughtful enough to save a copy of him for me.

The new 6" figures from TFA were remarkably hard to find and I saw just Finn and Chewbacca at one Walmart. All the others were long gone from every store I visited, but maybe they'll have a few left at the stores I hadn't yet had the opportunity to check. All in all, Force Friday and the immediate aftermath weren't nearly as exciting as past Star Wars toy launches and events, but it was great seeing a lot of new toys and collectibles after the past few years of mediocre retail stocking and distribution.

I underestimated the fandom in my area...I went around five in the evening to our Wall Mart and only the 6'inch Black Series Chewie was left from that line, and in the four inch figures, a Luke, and a Constanable Zuvio figure left! LOL! I guess I'll have to wait a bit for them to restock or find somewhere else!

I'm currently enjoying the hell out of my two cats with my Sphero BB-8.

One is utterly petrified (bless him) and the other is using him as hunting practise (good girl!).

I've never bought a merchandising toy before, but I still have the bitter after-taste of missing out on an original Buzz Lightyear 20 years ago, so I bought BB-8 to help quell those demons.

Cute as hell extravagance.

Hugo - -currently on "patrol" of his lounge getting the occasional "thwak" from a black paw

I have that Buzz Lightyear, still in the box.

A friend saw and grabbed two 6" Kylo Ren figures for us at a local Kmart! They had just four 6" figures left in the entire store and two of them were Kylo Ren. :) After almost 24 hours' worth of looking for and buying new figures we finally scored what's arguably the best and probably the most popular Hasbro figure in any scale of the entire Force Friday launch.

He looks great. Easily one of the best 6" Black Series figures yet released and from any of the movies. Unless my local stores restock their 6" assortments sometime soon and my timing is exceptionally good I doubt I'll see another 6-inch Kylo Ren, at least not at brick-and-mortar retail.

Not until the Kmart-exclusive Kylo Ren with the Starkiller Base stand, snow on his robe and boots and unique packaging is released:
