I turned 40 last month, can I can complain about my many, many physical ailments now? And how I don't really know what's causing most of them and I hope it's not a brain tumor?

Of course I was doing all that at 30. But it's real now.

I turned 40 last month too.

Starting to pay for my poor choices when I was younger.

On the plus side, I've getting the covid vaccine later today, so that's handy

Nope - no Ascot. I was in my teens or so and wasn't about to do that!

In my neck of the woods we used to call them zoris.

One thing you really notice about getting older is that you have to watch what you eat or else you start packing on the pounds. When I was 20, it was like I had two assholes and the metabolism of a shrew!

My school days predated disco, thank goodness. I do remember that in third grade, they had us kids doing a square dance to a tune called "The Sicilian Circle," which sounds like La Cosa Nostra.

As I child in the late seventies with a Scottish mother I used to rock the tartan trousers for school. I am no longer ashamed.

Nearing 40... 38 going on 39 this year. But damn Taylor Swift fans have gotten me feeling like I'm 40 already.

Said this on another place to vent.

Children. Smh. The world doesn't revolve around you and what you like. So stop judging others for not being narcissistic sheeple and liking what you like. The world doesn't work that way. We all have our likes and dislikes. M'kay.

Sorry to come in here early, but I just feel old today and needed to vent.

I honestly can't think of any group of fans that really pissed me off*...I mean, if I click on a thread here, I'm the one who read it, I gotta live with what's in it.

    * SW fans who think George Lucas is the Antichrist just for making [insert something they personally don't like, such as the prequels, the Special Editions, eggs, etc.] come close, though. :sigh:

I mean...The People vs. George Lucas? Fucking REALLY?

Same. But some Swifties go a bit too far in their fan-ness. Seen it with the Beyhive (fans of Beyonce) and the K Hive (fans of Kamala Harris). They seem to have one thing in common... narcissism. Some are thankfully level headed, but the narcissistic fans tend to drown them out.

Seen it with X Files fans as well, who figure you have to know a ton of info on the show to be a fan. Nothing like gatekeeping. Got tired of it.

I loved paisley shirts and baggy jeans in 1990 when I was 13 and ultra cool. With the jeans tucked in to the socks for extra coolness.

I turned 40 at about the same time that some people in Florida were arguing about hanging chads...

And to quote Dylan, "I'm younger than that now."

    Lmfao.

Seriously. They get on my nerves. I do shake them off though. :p

Not to mention that I avoid her songs. There's something about her that just gets under my skin I guess. *shrug*

I miss my 40's. Back when cash was plentiful, I was thinner and everything didn't ache all the time.... ;)

I'm 41 (getting ready to turn 42 in September) and besides being in better shape and health than in my 20s and 30s, the only thing that makes me feel my age is younguns nowadays not knowing what I'm talking about when I mention my favorite movies (Ghost Busters, Predator) or music now considered to be "oldies" (Van Halen, Bon Jovi, AC/DC play on the local oldies station).

I find I speak my mind more now than I ever would in the past. Which is weird, because I've always been an introvert, but as I get older I'm becoming more of an extrovert (or, I just don't give a fuck anymore :) )

Being an introvert has no relation to speaking one's mind. As an introvert, I do not often seek out many social interactions, but when I find myself in conversation, I always speak my mind--to a fault. I always have; it's just that, now, I'm much less concerned about the reactions of others.

I'm a 51 year old woman. My Give-A-Fuck-Ometer barely turns on anymore.
