The 3 foot model ?

This is a view that I hadn't happened to see before. It's difficult to determine the scale because of very limited points of reference, but I'm assuming that this is the 3 foot model. My question is: was it flat on the bottom....or is there some kind of support here that blends into the black background of the bench that it's sitting on?

That's just a shot from "Requiem for Methuselah."

(The film stock appears to be flpped in your image.)

It's on a tiny post, mounted thru the table and up into the hull behind the deflector.

Isn't that where Franz Joseph had the swimming pool on his blueprints?
Imagine a crewman having a swim and the shock he/she got when that post shot up thru the bottom of the pool.

It would have also destroyed the telescoping tractor beam emitter. ;)

Sincerely,

Bill

Thanks....been quite a while since I've seen that episode. And yes, the closer I looked the more I realized that the image was reversed.

As for the rest....gives a whole new meaning to 'post-production' doesn't it?

In "Requiem For Methuselah" there's another shot of the 3 footer from the rear angle that shows the upper and lower bulges of the saucer are more flat in shape. The 3 footer was the first miniature of the ship made and the shape was refined when the 11 footer was made, particularly in the shape of the saucer. The 3 footer was used periodically for long view shots (as well as promotional photos) where the distinctive saucer was less noticeable.
