Well, we've had the 80s music thread, the 90s music thread, and seeing as the current decade has only a few months left to run, now would be a good time to review the years 2000-2009 in popular music.
OK, the music of the last 10 years has been nothing but rubbish, I hear you say. [What he said - everyone] I thought that too when I thought about the music from the previous decade themed threads - and how wrong I was proven, with the (mostly good) memories flooding back from classic hits and long-forgotten gems. Perhaps by trawling through the good, the bad and the ugly of the 2000s others may feel the same way too? [No - everyone else]
Some of the songs I liked from the last 10 years anyway (your mileage may vary):
"Burn Baby Burn" - Ash
"New Born" - Muse
"My Doorbell" - The White Stripes
"I Believe In A Thing Called Love" - The Darkness
"Don't Mug Yourself" - The Streets
"When The Sun Goes Down" - Arctic Monkeys
"Feel Good Inc." - Gorillaz
"Crazy" - Gnarls Barkley
"The Importance of Being Idle" - Oasis
"Ooh Wee" - Mark Ronson feat. Ghostface, Trife & Nate Dogg
"Ooh La La" - Goldfrapp
"Oh My God" - Kaiser Chiefs
(no, the decade was not known for its imaginative song titles...
)
"Paper Planes" - MIA
"Chelsea Dagger" - The Fratellis
One interesting thing was that at one point, the same record was released by three different bands, under different titles:
"Take Me Out" - Franz Ferdinand
"Paralyzer" - Finger Eleven
"Shut Up And Let Me Go" - The Ting Tings
[[facepalm] - everyone]
