The 2 Minute Trailer?

Arent the Engineering and Security insignia the same? The only variations I know of are Command, Services, Science and Medical.

Looking on Trek Core you dont get a clear view of his badge

Tell me about it. I'm just going to assume he had the sam insignia as engineering. I see no reason why it would have been done any differently.

He has the same insignia. You can get some blurry views on the couple of other security officers we see. This is the only somewhat clear view of Cupcake's badge I managed to cap, on the left.

Well, in the opening nine minutes he still has his yellow shirt on. Perhaps he gets promoted to some sort of engineering role because he does some engineering doo-da to get Spock out of the volcano..

Maybe he spilled spaghetti sauce on his yellow shirt and didn't have another clean. So he borrowed one from a buddy in engineering.

maybe the Enterprise is damaged, lots of people wounded in engineering, imminent danger. Chekov is promoted to engineering section and says: "I can do it! I can do it!"

Without comment on whether or not Khan is in that picture or even the movie, I doubt this image is from the end of the movie. If the movie were ending with such a scene, it would be kept a bigger secret than the identity of Cumberbatch's character. It would not be in the trailer, not even in a vague out of context manner.

It would be kind of unexpected to show the end scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark in the preview but I wouldn't put it past Abrams to hide Khan – especially someone other than Cumberbatch playing Khan – in plain sight.

Has anyone been able to ninja-freezeframe to see if he's been promoted to lieutenant along with his transfer to security or engineering?

I wonder if his redshirtiness is to do with...
a new captain (Peter Weller?) taking over the Enterprise and reshuffling the remaining staff after Kirk loses command goes rogue (seemingly) with Spock and Uhura?
