The 11th Doctor's catchphrase...

I would be very surprised if we've seen the last of Jack on Doctor Who. Besides, we still haven't learned about his missing two years. I'm hoping Moffat will do something along the lines of Starkers' idea.

I still miss "Fan-tastic!"

"Brilliant!" was good too. And I very much liked "I'm so sorry."

Is there anything in the series 5 trailer to suggest that 11 has any depth at all? Not really.

Haven't watched too many trailers I'm guessing. Reminds me very much of the S2 trailer as others have said, that was just a mishmash of images and didn't tell us a lot about Tennant's Doctor.

I can't beleive people can't actually wait to see Smith in a fully formed episode before writing him off. Fandom :guffaw:

Fans of Moffat's work, and in particular Coupling might recall that Steve tells Susan early on in their relationship that he had an ex who had a really hunky ex-boyfriend who used to shout Geronimo upon...well when attempting re-entry shall we say ;)
Oi! I had forgotten about that!

By the way, I love your current avatar.

Thanks I nicked it off the BBC site! They have wallpaper as well. I don't know if you can access the BBC site or not but let me know if you can't and I can email you the jpeg?

Aren't they funny? Ah, well, let them have their fit and we'll enjoy series 5.

I can't from the ship's computer, but I've noticed that I usually can access otherwise blocked material from my own computer when using Wi-Fi off the ship. Quite weird, but I won't complain. I'll check tomorrow when I'm off duty.

Reminds me of that Movie "Dead Reckoning" with Bogart. He kept saying Geronimo too.

Who wrote those final scenes with 11? RTD?

I still miss Fantastic also.

Steven Moffat wrote Matt Smith's first scene not RTD.

IIRC, he created Jack more than Rusty did, but Jack was RTD's original idea - time-travelling conman called 'Jax'.

According to the Big Finish Eighth Doctor audio, Storm Warning, The Doctor has already met him. But who's to say The Doctor can't meet him again?

They shouldn't even feel the need to have a catchphrase. Really, it's all a bit like "Are you havin' a laff?" from When the Whistle Blows (Extras) - another sad indictment of modern tv..

Funnily enough, "Are you havin' a laff?" was really very funny to me. Maybe it was the silly wig and glasses.

I think catchphrases have their place. They can work in sitcoms ("I don't believe it!", "You stupid boy!") because you don't always expect them when they come, and they may not even happen every episode. But in a sketch show, you know the cariacature character's going to say it during or at the end, and it's rarely funny, or at least it isn't to me ("Am I bovvered", "How very dare you", the whole of Little Britain...eeeesh).

Mm? What's that, my boy?

It has nothing to do with modern TV.

Not to mention Would you like a jelly baby, or reverse the polarity or brave heart, Tegan...etc etc etc...
I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry. But...
Fantastic!

I'm not totally against them. They seem to have their place, particularly in comedy.

"You stupid boy!" uttered by Captain Mainwaring was pretty classic, as was Kenneth Williams with (snide) "Good Evening" & "Stop messin' about".

But with Extras the thing that made it funny was that the BBC had taken his edgy, intellectual comedy Andy had in mind and forced it into the conventional mold. Silly wig and glasses, yes they were funny on their own, but taken in context with Andy's sellout of every principle he started with - hilarious.
