The 00s and the 10s

I just find it weird that I'm called a mama's boy for missing her on occasion almost a decade after her death.
Who calls you that? I only ask because I think I may want to punch them in the mouth at some point. :klingon:

My mom is alive, but I can only wish that I had a mom worth missing when she eventually goes. People with good moms should be more thankful than they are.

My brother called me that. He's a drunken loser who treated her like shit when she was alive (He treated everybody like shit). It's one of the reasons we no longer speak,

And I agree with you. People with good moms should be thankful. Mine and I had our problems, but it never got so serious that we couldn't work through it. For the most part, we got along great, and I'm still grateful that we were on good terms when she died.

I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. But your brother is a worthless, useless, ungrateful piece of shit.

And I'm with USS Triumphant, I'd like to meet him some time to punch him in the face.

Those people are not worth knowing, if they have no empathy for your pain.

Don't be sorry. I feel the same way. Hell, I'm the one who's sorry. I hated seeing him become what he did (there was a time that I loved him), but, what can you do?

Perhaps this new decade will be something of a roaring 20s.
The "renaissance" decades generally run on a forty-year cycle; the 20s were followed by the 60s. The 00s should have been one, and leading up to it I even thought that the millennium effect would enhance it. Unfortunately, the opposite was true and we got the downward trend of the 80s hitting rock bottom. At this point, I'm just hoping that the cycle has been thrown off a bit and this will be our next "renaissance" decade.

Seven years ago my mom died. Now, you might wonder why a man in his late 30's is crying over his mommy.
Nobody in his right mind would wonder about that. She's your Mother and it doesn't matter how old you are. About your brother, remember this: The people who try the hardest to look tough are the biggest pussies.

Chronologically that's correct , which is why the masses think that decades begin with a year ending in 0 :scream:.

There was no year 0 A.D., so the first decade had to consist of years 1 through 10.
Centuries and Millennia are counted and labeled from the Year 1. Decades are referred to informally based on the last two digits; we talk about "the 70s," not the 197th Decade.

Maybe we should start refering to decades that way: "Sonny, I remember way back in the 198th, we still got our music on pressed vinyl, and we liked it that way!" or "That's how we roll in the two-oh-one." We could all be as obnoxious as those people who call Orange County "the O.C.".
