The “Kellogg” Shuttlecraft on Sci-Fi Airshow!

The Sci-Fi Airshow has a new entry: the original Thomas Kellogg design for the shuttlecraft. (Link) It’s freaking slick.

Excerpt from the page:

In 1966 when the producers of the original series of Star Trek needed a design for a new ship, the Shuttlecraft, they turned to the acclaimed design firm of Raymond Loewy Associates. Art director Matt Jefferies had done several designs of the craft that were deemed too expensive or difficult to build and these were turned over to the firm with the instructions to design a ship that would be easier to construct. Thomas Kellogg was given the job of coming up with the design. Kellogg had worked on the Studebaker Avanti so, not surprisingly, the Kellogg shuttlecraft’s design does have some similarities to the classic car...​

That is pretty sleek. They could have used that design in the movie era.

I feel like they kinda did – the Executive Shuttle shares more than a few design cues with this version, from the lack of nacelles to the curved hull hull sides overhanging the roof, and the larger windows up front.

Wow! The Kellogg shuttle looks amazing! I'd seen a little sketch of it before, but this model really shows it off beautifully.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I thought it was a lifesize model until I read the "About" bit on the SciFi Airshow website...

Nice job of fleshing out this design!

I always thought of this as the TOS era executive shuttle anyway. In my head canon I like to think there was also an early version of the warp sled from ST:TMP to go with it.
