That's when everything changes.. speculation?

Wasn't sure where to post this...but after watching the in-vision commentary track for "The Time of Angels" Steven Moffat dismisses two of the more noteable fan theories regarding River, he said she's not the Doctor's mother and not an older Amy Pond. Apparantly he does surf the internet at times and goes in the Doctor Who fourms and what not. We already know who the Doctor's mother was anyway...The Woman in White :) I kind of like the idea that Amy and Rory's child is River!!

Karen Gillan joined the Moff on the commentary and pointed out that it is implied pretty clearly that the Doctor and River bicker like a married couple. Moffat remained coy about that.

The amusing thing about "the Doctor's mother" theory is that, at one time, even Alex Kingston held that theory! (It's in her interview in DWM last year.)

He used to visit Outpost Gallifrey, but I don't know that he visits Gallifrey Base any longer.

Thinking that one through makes my head hurt; how could River be Rory's child when she couldn't recognize him in "The Big Bang"? :)

Which is amusing, when you realize that in "The Time of Angels," the Doctor has only met River once from his perspective. (Though the Doctor's dialogue during the scene of River piloting the TARDIS in that episode implies that the Doctor is more familiar with her than their one meeting in the fourth season.) But if River has the lengthy history with the Doctor that she suggests she has, she would know which buttons to press... :)

Indeed. What I find most fascinating about River is that she didn't mention that the Doctor had recently regenerated. Or that he'd picked up a new companion. River recognized the Tenth Doctor as being a younger version of a Doctor she knew...I find it surprising that River wouldn't go "Hi Amy. Nice to see you." just to throw Amy off some more. River is fascinating. :) We still don't even know when they first meet in River's timeline yet.

Haha. Good point. I have a feeling that when Steven does reveal who River is and what her connection to the Doctor is that this is going to be a pretty devising thing among the fandom. Contraversial to be sure. Probably will be some who are disappointed. Moffat has stated as early as the "Silence in the Library" commentary track that he's known exactly who River is. I wonder if he and Russell discussed this much at the time?

According to The Writer's Tale, no. RTD tells Ben Cook that he assumes that River is the Doctor's wife, but he doesn't actually know.

If she's never met her father?

Or... if he regenerated before conceiving her... dun dun DUNNNNN!

Has anyone posted an "Amy is the Doctor and River's daughter" theory yet?

No. And for the same reason nobody is posting "Dumbledore is the future Ron Weasley after he travels into the past" theory anymore ... Cuz it's bonkers.

What if he concived her whilst regenerating?

Dear lord I can't believe my mind thought of that...I'm turning into Guy Guardner...

i like the idea that River could be Romana in a human form yet having some of her timelord memories.

To be honest whoever River turns out to be it'll probably be a let down, that's just the nature of plot twists!

That said I really hope she isn't a Time Lord/Amy/Amy's daughter...
