I started watching classic Who on Netflix to get a who fix when my wife wasn't around. We were watching the current series together. I like most of it. I've watched at least one full serial of every doctor but the 6th so far. Off the top of my head, ones I really liked were An Unearthly Child, Tomb of the Cybermen, and City of Death. I think Ark In Space would've made the list if it wasn't quite so plodding in a few places.

I think I've seen at least 3 times that many serials total, so I don't think I've seen enough to declare myself a Classic Who fan or not.

Good on you for trying. I think there's certainly much more variety in classic show than the new one, though that's perhaps inevitable due to the differing timespans. But that means there should, in theory, be something for everyone.

If you've not done Caves of Androzani, Revelation of the Daleks, Doctor Who and the Silurians, or The Pirate Planet yet, they're all firm favourites of mine. But I'm creeping off topic there.

OK, so it wasn't that great. I was amused that the Doctor went through a phase in which he would kill you in your sleep if he perceived you as a potential threat.

I also need to add "The Aztecs" to the list of good ones.

I've recently acquired a good chunk of the original show online via multiple sources and having watched as much as the first and second doctors available, and the third as well - I can tell you that the show does not disappoint.

I'm watching the fourth doctor now and he's fast becoming my favorite of the original series but thats only because he reminds me of an older Eighth Doctor.

I started liking Doctor Who after the TVM but it would be ten years, after watching and recording that silly little movie, before I actually got a chance of watching Doctor Who. Thanks to the invention of the internet, I caught up on all of NuWho and have bought or download a lot of content.

Suffice to say, I'd love to own all of Doctor Who in one consistent legal format or another but alas... I've had to buy Series 1 twice after watching it the first time straight through and then a dozen times over again that I nearly killed all of the DVDs.

To name a few of my favorite episodes... An Unearthly Child (All of it), The Aztecs, Planet of the Giant, The Gunfighters, Tomb of the Cybermen, The Ice Warriors, The Invasion, The Seeds of Death, The War Games, Doctor Who and the Silurians, Inferno, all of season 8, The Curse of Peladon... are just a few of the episodes I've actually rewatched.

Original Who is actually really good and there is just so much of it that it is nice to watch between seasons of new Doctor Who. The only thing I think the only improvement the new series has over the original series is pacing. Original Who can be really slow at sometimes but it's still just as enjoyable as New Who - if not a little more so because well, it's the original

It's exactly what they do, and it's the only reason that DW exists at all. The nuWho writers, for the most part, make up good stuff.

In a likely futile attempt to get things back on track: Perhaps "everything changes" when the Doctor will somehow get stranded outside of the normal universe. I keep hoping for the TV series to somehow adapt the Divergent Universe storyline from the Paul McGann Big Finish audios.

The Doctor at the beginning was a very harsh individual. I'm not positive they intended him to be an alien quite at that point, but he certainly had an indifference to humanity, so his attitude in those episodes were quite interesting. I never actually finished The Aztecs (liked the first couple parts, something just came up so I didn't finish it), but I understand he actually changes his personality significantly during that serial to become a much kinder individual.

Unfortunately, the truly historical serials usually weren't as good as the sci fi ones, but The Aztecs was quite decent.

I liked the Daleks. The Sensorites, however. Gag! I thought I'd never get through that Serial. I spent a week watching it and couldn't stop falling asleep and it was just frustrating to watch.

Valiant effort... but yes yes! I forgot to insert my thoughts on that particular subject.

Lets see, I am hoping that the Game Changer is more a reference to who River Song is, and why she isn't a typical companion. It's odd that she doesn't actually travel with him, so much as show up when he, or she needs the other - which means River must feel partially responsible for what she had done to not gain full companionship, or she was declined full companionship by the Doctor at some future point because of what she had done.

She seemed genuinely worried he'd work out who she had killed during the Weeping Angels - so it's possible it's someone he's already met, but considering their timey wimey relationship (of which hints at a possible romance), it's possible the Doctor hasn't met this person yet.

Gosh I talk alot.

Anyway, I actually hope they steer clear of anything like the Divergent Universe. I thought the really good stories worked because it was purely an audio media, allowing our imaginations to see the story and stories like the Natural History of Fear or Scherzo probably wouldn't work. But maybe thats because I hope that one day they'll adapt the stories FOR the eighth doctor... but heh, that won't ever happen.
