''That Which Survives'' Line-By-Line

Leandar

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Hello, welcome!

We recently completed our"Silent Enemy" Line-by-Line over in the ENT forum!

After each completed thread, we're randomly picking someone who participated to choose the next episode we do. The lucky winner this time around was Orac! So Orac chose "That Which Survives" to be our next Line-by-Line challenge!

For any unfamiliar with our "game," you are asked to post only a single line (defined as one character speaking without interruption by another character) per message. You can post as often as you like, but someone else must post a line in between your posts.

Our "rule" is that if the episode has a "To Be Continued..." on the end, it is done in a single thread, but if it's just an arc of related episodes, each episode is a separate thread.

As before, at the conclusion of this thread, one of our fearless leaders, CoveTom or that sage of screen, theater, and thread, LeadHead, will pick someone at random from among all the participants to choose the next episode we do.

Unless they get busy and I get ADHD again.....

So here it is, a thread that even Spock can't explain!

Spock: I suggest no supernatural explanation, Captain. I merely point out that the facts do not fit any known categories of planets.

Spock: Undoubtedly. The age of this planet would seem to be only a few thousand years. It would be impossible for vegetation to evolve in so short a period.

Spock: It would be impossible to explain. An atmosphere could not evolve in so short a period of time.

Spock: Evidently. But the inconsistencies are so compounded as to present a seemingly impossible phenomenon.

Kirk: It would bear closer investigation, it would seem, if we're to provide Starfleet with an accurate report. Lieutenant, send Doctor McCoy to the transporter room for survey party. We'll also need Senior Geologist D'Amato.

Kirk: Feed beam down coordinates to the transporter room. Mr. Sulu, you'll accompany me. Mr. Spock, you have the conn.

(Kirk and Sulu leave.)

Spock: Lieutenant Rahda, report to the bridge immediately.

D'Amato: The opportunity to explore so young a planet is an incredible bit of luck, Captain.

KIRK: Yes. If Mister Spock is correct, you'll have a report to startle the Fifth Interstellar Geophysical Conference.
