That perverted psycho! He should be thrown in jail!

They're also called loosemeat or looseburger.

Ketchup on Chinese take out- Yuck. But there are some marinades for Chinese BBQ dishes that call for some ketchup as a base (and Coca Cola to be added later). One recipe I found called for a mixture of ketchup (only about a teaspoon), hoisin sauce, soy sauce, Chinese 5 spice powder, and Coke! It made a delicious pork dish.

I really only use ketchup for hot dogs, hamburgers, and fries.

It's backyard barbeque-type food, stuff you throw in a crockpot and slop onto a bun. I never said it was a delicacy.

So I was at the school today and I went the the food court for lunch. I see some guy with his plate of chinese food.

Then he grabs a ketchup bottle and puts ketchup on his Chinese food. Not just a little bit - he DRENCHES his noodles and beef & broccoli in it.

Ketchup. On Chinese Food.

That sick fuck. What is this world coming to?

PS: Also, what kind of hoity toity jerks use chopsticks on cheap cafeteria Chinese food? It's cheap, shitty, deep fried noodles. Using chopsticks isn't going to make the experience any more authentic.

So shopping mall food court Chinese food isn't authentic enough to eat with chopsticks, but it is authentic enough not to embellish with ketchup?

EDIT: What is a sloppy Joe?

Um...a sloppy joe...

Lots of ground beef, drenched in a ketchupy/BBQ-like sauce, on a hamburger bun.

If someone has a better description, please use it. Mine doesn't sound appetizing.
Oh. Wow. Now I want one. :wtf:

It's a loose-meat hamburger only the hamburger meat is in a slighty spicy tomato sauce. (Neither really "kethcupy or BBQy")

Usually topped with pickles, I like cheese on mine.

Depends how you make it. There isn't exactly an official recipe. I've had them plenty of times that tasted like BBQ.

^ Are sloppy joes an acquired taste, or did you like them right away?
Not an acquired taste for me, but I've been eating them as long as I can remember. You might want to try this, if they sell it near where you live. Good stuff.

Ketchup is very good in certain recipes. I generally add some to tomato-ish sauces, to add a little zing to it.

Oh, and the best ever salad dressing has ketchup in it (alongside ginger, soy sauce, rice vinegar, ...), so ketchup does have its uses. In moderation.

Ah. Thanks. I'll keep my eyes open for it. I believe there are one or two shops around town which sell American products... I think I saw quite a number of American foods in Partridges Sloane Square. Good excuse to stop there next time I'm in the area. :D

Yeah, they're good with the bun toasted.
yes.gif

ketchup is indeed evil.
but pineapple on pizza is good.
:)

It is indeed. I was very pleasantly surprised when I learned that my bf also likes pineapple on pizza. It's obviously meant to be. ;)

Pickles? Cheese?

That is several different flavours of wrong.

You guys really should seek counseling or some kind of psychological assistance. :D

You are not only incorrect, you spelled flavor wrong. :p

I've had ketchup on mashed potatoes before. It's pretty good. I mean, fries and mashed potatoes are both potatoes, so I see nothing wrong with it. Grossed my dad out, though.

Weirdest thing I've put ketchup on: fried zucchini. I really can't handle it without some kind of sauce and ketchup's usually the only thing available unless I plan ahead and get some ranch. Besides, my friends put ketchup on fried okra all the time.

I have NEVER heard of putting mounds of ketchup on NOODLES! What was the guy thinking?! THE NERVE! Anyway, to each his own I guess..everyone likes food in odd ways. I like sour cream on my baked potato sometimes.
