I like the look of the patch, and the fact that it looks like it is made out of fabric and leather, not some space age material.

Well, in all fairness to you and everyone, we all love the Federation (except for Quark, and maybe nuQuark).
Root beer is so bubbly and cloying.... and happy.
It looks like leather that's been embossed and then the colors were printed/painted - no embroidery.
