and, I guess, Squiggyfm, too, for broadcasting the FIRST International Robotics competition from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. I was able to watch all my son's matches from my own office (when I should have been working!). We'd text each other about them, and it was almost like being there.

Today was the start of the qualifying rounds. His team is currently seeded 17 out of 87. The rest of the qualifying rounds finish tomorrow morning, and then the elimination rounds culminating in the grand finals.

They're Team 931, Perpetual Chaos. They're playing on the Archimedes field. The competition is so big - 300+ teams - that they are running 4 simultaneous sets of competitions. At the end the four winners from each field duke it out for grand champion.
