Spoilers Terry Matalas is doing a Reddit Q&A

Keynotes so far

1: Shelby was the ceremonial CO for the E-F, actual Captain was "probably" a canon version of Va'kel Shon.

2: Geordis wife wasn't mentioned for future story options, but she is not a previously established character

3: The picture in Jacks quarters (IRL a picture of Gates and Patrick at the TNG premier) is just to imply they're a family, not necessarily that they're an active romantic couple.

4: The fleet seen in Frontier Day is the majority of the active fleet but not all of it.

5: The E-D bridge set was all they could afford

6: Titan-B is likely a proper Luna class ship again

7: Anton Chekov was indeed named in honor of Anton Yelchin

8: E-A is Terrys favorite

Yeah..I wish it was a proper 2 hour AMA where nearly every question gets a response of some kind. This just feels like a tightly controlled dog and pony show

They’re probably filtered by his publicist

I love the answer about Seven and Raffi, would it be appropriate for a Captain to date her first officer...

Q. What exactly happened between Seven and Raffi? Could they try it one more time at the Enterprise-G? Or it would be inappropriate for the captain to date her first officer? lmao

A. "It never stopped Kirk and Spock".

On any other guest stars he wanted he said this....

Oh, so many. Kira. We wanted Janeway to give Seven her promotion to Captain, although I’m VERY pleased with the Tuvok scene and actually think it’s better. Ro Laren was supposed to return… she had been beamed off the shuttle and held for information by the Changelings. And in one of the Codas, Seven and Picard rescued her from the Intrepid brig. I wanted to see Anton Chekov on screen.

But all of these come down to time and money. You can’t do it all and build an Enterprise-D bridge. But hey, that’s why we want to make more, right?!

Did he answer as to WHY he chose the Neo Constitution as the next Enterprise instead of something new and sleeker looking?

Because Star Trek fans need to be broken of the mindset that the Enterprise always has to be the best, fastest, toughest, most clever, most overpowering and extra ship in the fleet.

The Enterprise-A was not the most powerful ship in the fleet, it was actually quite old and weak compared with the Excelsior and other cotempoary ships (IE The Constellation class)..but she was still important and did epic things
