I only read the first one back when it came out [one of my h.s. teachers called it "The Sword of Sha-na-na"
] and was too put off by the Tolkien-ripoff aspect to ever go any further. [I still think naming an elf "Durin" should be punishable by time in the stocks at Worldcon or something] I'd heard the later one were better, but knowing that it all is somehow the future also produces a profound WTF??? Don't think I'll live long enough to see any of this get up the top of the to-read list.
